Wonder what kind of seal goes on the metal PCV pipe under the intake?  It looks like the larger part is kind of a press fit into the manifold but maybe there was a rubber gasket under the bolt that holds it down?

Cork flat ring. It is not the best fit, but it does seal.

Thanks Russ, I'm assuming that's a DIY item?

The gasket is part of an engine rebuild kit. I have not found it separately yet.  But you can make it. The cork material is very thick.

It may be with the valley pan gasket.   Give Best Gasket a call, they may know.

As seen in the picture below there was a cork gasket between the PCV Return Pipe & Connector and the valve lifter compartment cover. I have a new gasket for $5 + s/h. Under the long screw bolt there was a large washer 1 13/32" wide, 7/64" thick, with 9/32" opening. These were on all 1963 & 1964 Cadillacs.
The Master parts books also lists a smaller washer (9/32" x 5/8" x 1/16") for 1949 to 1962 and 1965 to 1966 Cadillacs, however, I have seen them on very original 1963 and 1964 Cadllacs including an early production relatively low production 1963 I am parting out.

The picture below shows the PCV return pipe, bolt, pipe to compartment cover gasket, smaller washer, and standard larger washer. If interested in the gasket shoot me an email to jasonedge@nc.rr.com.

The gasket is though Best Gasket. PN 1270 Ventilator tube.  They do not sell through their factory, but through established sellers.  Look at their web site https://bestgasket.com/distributors/#cadillac for a seller and see if they have it or can get it in.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
