I'm in need of a wiper motor for a 63 SDV. Mines toast, stopped at 90 degrees on the windshield, now blows fuse whenever power applied.

Tom, do you have the shop manual? It has troubleshooting steps to identify the problem. Since it's blowing fuses its\'s either shorting to ground or just drawing too much load. My best guess would be to check the motor brushes, these cars are so old now, they may be worn out .Disassembly of this motor looks pretty involved though.. My parts car still has it mounted ,don't know how good it would be .
Good point on the brushes. I would recommend just having it professionally repaired. The piece will look and perform as new. This is a common GM wiper motor, so it is not a difficult motor to rebuild or repair. Just google windshield wiper motor repair.
Thanks all for the comments. I found one off a 64 on epay I'll try. Jason, you can take my name off you list for now.
While I've got this disassembled, I'm replacing all the washer hoses. Also looking to see if there's anything I can do to clean up the joints on the wiper linkage to reduce drag. Doesn't look like I can do much with it and still keep it dry(without lube). Any suggestions on this???
Remove the wiper transmissions and clean up the pivot heads that rotate. Use a penetrating oil to get the crud loosened up, and flush out with brake parts cleaner.
Removing the transmission can be time consuming, especially if you run in to issues getting any of those 9 Phillips Screws out that hold it in place. I would visually inspect, and unless you see major rusting, with the cowl chrome grills removed, hit the transmission assembly with compressed air and spray the pivot points with WD40 and work back and forth and you should be good to go for many years. If you have heavy rust and decay on the transmission assembly (which I have only seen occasionally) I have over a dozen excellent complete transmission assemblies for $50 each + s/h.
Hey all, thought I'd follow up on this thread.
Received the wiper motor off Epay and got it installed. We be "wipin" again!
Took the cowl grill assembly off and cleaned up all the joints on the transmission. Has much less drag than it did before. Still no washer but that's one of those things I'm not too worried about.
Thanks again to all for the assistance.

Congrats! Yep, wiper is the main thing, You can pick at the washer as time permits. I had my car 15 years without a working washer and finally bought a repair kit and TCB'd it and sure felt good to see it work.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
