Would any of the members have the following information.
I am looking for the measurement of the front driveshaft on a 1964 Cadillac 62 Series Coupe equipped with the Hydramatic transmission? I acquired a complete driveshaft from a 1964 Cadillac De Ville with a Turbo Hydramatic transmission (which is longer) and want to cut the front driveshaft to the length needed for the Hydramatic. The reason for this is I have the spare De Ville Turbo Hydramatic driveshaft assembly and want to get it rebuilt and the do the swap without having the car sidelined at a garage for a long period while a driveline shop rebuilds the driveshaft assembly. Also, is the splined trans yoke the same on the Hydramatic and the Turbo Hydramatic trans? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Per my notes the shorter HydraMatic front driveshaft overall length is 36 1/8" long, compared to the 38 1/4" length of the Turbo Hydramatic. Splines on the front slip yoke are the same. I recently pulled an excellent complete HydraMatic driveshaft with a rear section where the CV joints had a lot of snap & spring which is a good sign of the overall health. I sold the rear section (which are like unobtanium in this condition) but still have the excellent front section and even the center member. The front section is $100 (or $125 with the center member bearing assembly). Check out this link for more details: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.517530393162282&type=3
Picking up an almost guaranteed really good front section for a Benjamin note would be easier that cutting and splicing... and you could turn around and sell that front THM section.

Good Morning all!
I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response, has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you

I've looked at the usual rubber sources but couldn't find any.
