Does anyone have the proper dimensions for the air filter? At least height and inner diameter.

I ordered a Hastings AF149 that seemed to have a good inner diameter, but was lacking in height and thickness. It was described as being 3.6” tall, but measured 2.5”. When researching on parts sites, height is all over depending on manufacturers.

I already feel like the K&N that came with the car is too short even with some cheap looking foam to give it a little more height. It also sits loose due to the inner diameter.

Sam, I have the 64 air cleaner on my 63 and can tell you for sure that the Hastings AF149 element will not work. I purchased a WIX 42080 from Amazon and it fits perfect. It was a bit pricey at $18.99 but no auto store in my area had one in stock. Happy Easter!

Thank you John. I saw this one on Rock Auto, along with the Hastings and a Fram, and wanted to ensure the size matches what the original called for before ordering on Amazon. All three manufacturers had different dimensions so I figured it was good to get verification.

Rock auto $5.96

Joe, That is the Hastings AF149 filter that Sam indicated is the incorrect height ..too short! The WIX 42080 that they list for $11.84 is correct.  Number's to look for are A63C, AF19 and WIX 42080.  There may be other #'s but know these 3 are correct as I have example in the garage of all 3 right now and all are correct.

The original part # was A63C. I still find them listed under that # and have one I ordered thru Amazon. Alternate #'s are AF19, and the WIX 42080 posted. Here are the specs of the air filter:
SIZE: 3" Tall, 12 1/2" OD, 9 3/4" ID

Thank you Jason. That helps a lot.

I ordered a few more A63C (original part #) and AF19 (replacement part #) air filter elements to have on hand. If any one needs one and cannot find on eBay, Amazon, etc, I have them for $20 each.  Here' s a pic. Note they have the original 155 3695 GM part #.

First of all , Thank you Jason for your correction. When my air filter arrived not only was is short 2.5" instead of 3" Tall it was to small in circumference. I contacted Rock Auto and told them this. They thanked me for pointing this mistake out and told me to keep the wrong air filter and they gave me back my money including shipping.    Which they did.

I have a Hastings in hand, and a refund from Amazon, too. I received my A63C from Jason, and it is perfect.

While working on my trunk lock on 64 Cadillac, I mistakenly closed the locking mechanism while the trunk was open.  Is there an easy way to manually release the lock back to the open position?

Thanks.

Fuel Pump Failure

Posted by Jon Shields on August 6, 2022 at 6:48am 4 Comments

Hello,

I'm located in Melbourne, Australia and my 64 sedan de ville is stuck in the garage due to failed mechanical fuel pump. The first after market mechanical fuel pump lasted a few years before it failed & left me stranded 5 hours from home. A hire car and tow got us home. On inspection, I noticed a valve not seated within the housing. I was optimistic, pressed it into place and assumed the pump was good to go. But alas, no. From what I can now determine, the diaphragm pushrod…
