I have 1 hubcap that keeps popping off. I have changed both rear wheels one accepts the NOS hubcap the other does not. Can the tabs be bent out slightly to grab the rim better. I know cadillac had a problem with hub caps. Any suggestions. Hupcaps are NOS and look great. Just dont want rear one to pop off again and damage. Thanks Jon

Where are your wheel weights attached? If they are mounted outside the lip of the rim, then the hubcap won't be able to sit flush where the weight is and you risk losing the hubcap on the road. There are special wheel weights with a gap that allow the hubcap to sit flush or you may be able to use the stick on wheel weights.

All of the wheel weights are mounted on the back side of each wheel. Thanks

Jon
Are you sure-- all your rims are for Your Year Car ?
The year is stamped on the inside of the tire --on the rim itself
Rims from other years do not accept our year hubcaps
The tire and lug pattern are the same size but the rim itself --is designed differently ( its center mostly )!
If your weights are not on the front of the rim --the weights are not the reason the cap is coming off
You can bend the points on the cap to see if that helps keep the cap on
See if you feel the cap bites the rim more --being bent out some

When correct --the lip of the hubcap should be a -tight fit -to the rims edge and you should have to use a rubber hammer to set the cap on to the rim and have the caps teeth bite the rim

After you reinstall the cap --then remove it --to determine the resistance the cap is giving you regarding it being removed
If you have a more difficult time trying to pry it off it should be a sign it will stay on for you

Enjoy

The 1961 to 1964 Cadillac wheels had a slightly larger outer diameter lip where the hubcap attaches. Usually the problem with hubcap fitment is opposite of your description, in that someone tries to put a 1963/64 hubcap on a 1965 or later wheel that has the more narrow diameter.  I am not aware of another Cadillac Wheel year range that is wider than the already wide 1961 to 1964 wheel, but anything is possible. I would check the year wheel you are actually using. Lower Front End Ball Joints

Posted by Logan Robb on May 11, 2023 at 9:04am 7 Comments

Good Morning all!

I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…

1964 power steering sector rebuild

Posted by CHRIS CARLSON on March 20, 2023 at 11:32pm 3 Comments

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response,   has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you

I've looked at the usual rubber sources but couldn't find any.
