Hi,

I need to repair the front left vent window motor and was wondering if anyone had any tips or knows of any videos on removing the door card. I've removed the one on my 67 Eldorado a couple of times but my 64 Fleetwood looks a little more complicated and delicate. ???

Cheers

Jeff

Not that difficult. From memory:
- remove door lock knob
- remove screw at top front of dash extension and slide it off.
- remove two large screws that go up through base of door handle
- remove mirror knob (small Allen screw)
- remove arm rest switch plate (screw at front and screw at rear), lift up & unplug connectors to switches.
- remove 5/16" hex head screw from arm rest plastic tab now exposed to door bracket
- remove chrome washer head finish screws embedded in carpet at bottom.  (2 at corners and usually a couple in inner bottom section).
-Door panel should be ready to remove, however you have a series of small ring shank  nails that go into plastic inserts on side of door panel. Use a flat pry bar to gently pray the nails loose.
- While pulling door panel away from the door at bottom pull up and over the door lock rod at rear, and lift entire door panel up and over toe top section... then drop front section to clear the mirror adjustment rod at front.
Door panel courtesy light will be connected... disconnect and remove door panel.

Honestly, the only "hidden" pieces of removing the door panel are the chrome finish screws embedded in the carpet and those ring shank  nails. Other than that you can basically see everything that needs to be removed. When parting my first car out I never used a video, or instructions and generally just took my time and figured it out... but it is always nice to know the sort of hidden obstacles.

The shop manual will be your best friend, and answer many questions you have about the systems in the car. Next would ne the owners manual as it will go into detail on the operation of the systems.

Thanks Jason!!

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
