Hello All,

I am looking for a mechanical fuel pump for a 61 390 cu in engine. The AC pump number that came off was 40297, this has been discontinued. Would anyone know if there is a replacement for that unit; not looking for an Airtex 713, have had trouble with them.

Thanks,

Ron Collins

Airtex fuel pumps are just bad!! I had one with 2000 miles that went out last month. You can find old stock rebuilt ones on eBay that are AC pumps. To get one with the part tag on it might take time. Kits to rebuild them is around $50. if you still have yours.

I don't know how they get away with putting out sub-par stuff. Will probably need to dig a unit out of the boneyard and like you say rebuid it.

Thanks,

You can send your pump to Terrill Machine Shop to get it rebuilt. Datona Parts may be able to rebuild it also. Terrill Machine did one for me a few years ago.

Thanks Dave and David, I am know hoping to find two pumps. Send one out to be rebuilt and try my hand at rebuilding one. always good to have a "working" spare.

The web master on this site ,may have the fuel pump you are looking for
So do check with him ,as his hold up as the should
Some of the replacement fuel pumps have been a problem ,as you know already
The quality of many things being manufactured in the world today is just not what it use to be --when our cars were built
You need to replace your diswasher every two years ,they use to last 25 and the recalls on so many brands of cars for one thing or anoyher --is getting a bit crazy

My 2009 Scion ( which i love and want back ASAP ) has been recalled because the air bags can Kill You !!
Toyota has rented us a car for a undetermined amount of time until the problem is corrected ,with no solution in sight at this time ( going on for 10 months )
More than one car company is involved with the problem
My car is sitting at the dealer for two months now ,and i cannot sell it if i desire to ,not good
My rental is costing Toyota 1,000 dollars a month
Just a heads up that a rental is available for the asking if you are in the same boat as me

Enjoy

Stuck at two red (dash) lights!

I hope someone can help solve these two electrical problems that appeared one after the other.

By way of background: The car, a '64 Eldorado has very limited use. It was at a restoration shop for 15 months until last January-  that supposedly did a bunch of wiring repairs including rebuilding the gas gauge that still hasn't worked properly, and the clock that hasn't worked, and re-soldering the broken wires in the drive door. All window and seat controls appear to be…

Dash removal

Hello everyone,

On a 63 CDV, if a guy wanted to remove the entire dash to get all the metal painted, and do some other things behind there, how would he go about doing that?  I checked here and the shop manual, but can't find a complete guide.

As always, and help or direction is appreciated.  Thanks!

Introducing myself

Thanks for letting me join the club.  Picked up this ‘64 Coupe Deville a few months ago out of Beverly MA, the car has few stickers on it from various Cadillac clubs, didn’t know if anyone might recognize it from it’s “Glory days.” Everything seems pretty healthy except for the body and some very Mickey Mouse repairs, was wondering if anyone had any leads on…
