Hey guys, I was thinking of adding a aftermarket temperature gauge to the ‘64, 429. But not sure how to do it. The original sensor is too close to distributor to install a tee fitting. I would like to keep the idiot light on the dash. Has anyone ever added one. How did you do it? Pictures would be helpful. Thanks for your response.

Any of the aftermarket temp gauges have been of poor quality giving false reading usually on the high side of the actual engine temp
If installing a temp gauge or a sending unit into the block — do not use Teflon tape — but go metal to metal
Enjoy
Yes Tony cheap gauges could tend to be off a bit but a good quality gauge will give a very accurate reading. Even a poor quality gauge can be useful if it will show when you are overheating. You just have to learn how to read it.
Hi Clovis
Always good to know you are looking out for the community with you especially good advice
A look under your 64’s hood freaked me out — hummmmmmmmmm!
Enjoy
I have also thought about doing this. Well, actually, a set of gauges for temp, oil, and charging. Something hidden, maybe in the glovebox.
let us know if you go thru with this and how it went!

I've added an inline radiator hose gauge coupling. Since our intakes have limited holes for sending units, I needed a spot for my electric fan temp sensor. I put an inline hose coupling that I was able to put my sender into and it worked very well.

Good Morning all!
I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response, has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you

I've looked at the usual rubber sources but couldn't find any.
