Has anyone had a bad alternator cause a weird misfire at idle, almost like the car is not sparking properly? I’ve upgraded to pertronix, replaced coil, plugs, plug wires and cap. Carburetor replaced twice. Still idles like absolute crap at idle. There are no vacuum leaks, believe me I’ve checked 8.2 million times. The vacuum booster is good. The compression is good. The carburetor has been adjusted every which way from Sunday. To no end sit at a light and idle and it gets worse and worse. Step on the gas and off she goes with no effort. This ones got me stumped! Only thing I can think of is a alternator going bad. It seems to charge fine and no generator light while running. Has anyone else experienced this. I’m running out of ideas.

You need to have a 12v source to your coil  when using  the Pertronics ignition modual in a stock dist 

The stock wire —to the coil stock starts the car at 12v and then reduces  it to 10.5 v to run the stock engine  with points —-( to prevent the points from damage ) has  a resistor in the stock wire— going from the ignition switch to the stock coil ——that needs to be removed and replaced with with a new wire to the coil —that now has a constant 12 v source 

The other posts here are saying the same thing —- but hope some more detail might help understand what might be required for the Pertronics to be working as it should 

Makes sense that the Pertronics will not work correctly ( very possibly at an idle ) if not receiving the proper amount of voltage to it 

The alternator should have nothing to do with your issue

Rumble Sound at 55-60 mph

64 Coupe DeVille , while driving at 55-60 mph I have a oscillating rumble sound . Steering wheel does not shake or vibrate . Transmission mount looks good .Tires were replaced 2 years ago balanced and rebalanced recently. Axel bearings were just replaced, rear differential assembly was just replaced with a Posi track ,pinion bearings good. Fresh gear lube. 1963 series 62 convertible transmission issue

Hello I've been restoring a 63 for way to many years. Down to almost done, but have issue with trans linkage, when column in park shift rod 2 inches short. everything original. been trying to find picture of manual rod hooked up from under car to see position of linkage. was wondering if anybody has access for pictures.
