I dropped off my block at machine shop other day, and asked about balancung the crankshaft, wheter i needed to get all the pistons, rings, etc. For him to weigh them and balance. I had seen it done on utube, so was asking what he needed. He asked me if the balancer was internally balanced or not. He showed me a balancer in his stock, and showed me how the inner part was partially ridged. He saud the other type was fully rounded over the circunference of the balancer, so, my question is which would be on the 63 390 engine.

We have an external harmonic balancer at the front of the engine crankshaft which is behind the lower most engine pully for the fan belts ( outside the block )
Not sure if that answers your question or not but tell your shop that
If a harmonic balancer came with the new short block you purchased give it to the shop
They need it to balance the crankshaft
If no harmonic balancer came with the short block you can remove the one from the engine in your car ( not so easy ) Or purchase the one Jason just put up for sale
Explain the above to the shop and see what he has to say about that
If and when you are happy with the work being done pls do let us know who they are and the location —-Thanks
Enjoy
Is the shop asking for a flywheel also ?
if so they need those parts to get the crankshaft balance correct for you and need the entire rotating mass on the crankshaft to do that
Enjoy
No, he mentioned it, but didnt request it. I told him my flywheel was still in the car. It may be that i hv to get that done when i get back to MT in march when i get the current engine out, then continue the buildingvfrom there

I'm trying to remove the rear seatback on my 1964 deville conv. The only help on this site that I can find is the following:
The seatback, its bright stainless trim, and the speaker grille are removed as an assembly. The seat back hangs on two hooks near the top, and is retained to the body by two bolts and washers near the floor, one on the right side, one on the left.Once these fasteners are removed, lift the seat back upward and free it from the hooks
I've removed…
