I just received set of coil springs (stock high)from Springs"n Things in PA for $225 plus $25 shipping. Thanks to Ronnie Lay who send this lead and he is happy with his purchase . That's half price what other distributors charge .

Maybe we should make another column on the web where we can submit the  prices for the parts from different companies and find out where we can buy same or similar quality part for the lowest price?

I would like to buy parts for front end:tie roods ball joints etc.Where is the best place to buy for lowest price?

Thank you.

Rock auto or Kanter in NJ for front end parts and more
The Help page in the header should help locate vendors
Nice job with shoping for you springs and letting us know the results of you efforts

Enjoy

Change tht to --part suppliers in the header

Glad I could help you out.

I agree with Tony, Rock Auto or Kanter. With Rock Auto you have to order each individual piece, they offer no kit, they also show different sizes for some parts, so you have be sure what you need (although they do allow returns).

I have seen some reasonably priced kits on Ebay, but can't speak to the quality of the parts.

You also will want to check the bushings in your rear trailing arms when you do your rear springs, when worn they can cause the rear end to sag.

Nobody likes a saggy rear end : )

What is Springs N Things contact info (i.e. phone, address, website, etc?). I'll add them to our parts supplier page and can note that they had reasonable price on date entry added. To do a table of parts suppliers and costs for particular parts would be a full time as it would quickly become out of date. I've been following parts for these cars and price, availability, is sometimes cyclical at best, but typically random and sporadic.

Spark Plug Heat Range

Posted by Patrick Westphal on July 7, 2023 at 10:00am 3 Comments

I found a diagram that illustrates the main factor in determining a spark plug heat range that I was trying to describe to you during the chapter get together.

Here it is:

The main factor is the length of the ceramic insulator from the middle of the spark plug to the tip (where the spark happens)

The insulator…

Lower Front End Ball Joints

Posted by Logan Robb on May 11, 2023 at 9:04am 7 Comments

Good Morning all!

I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…
