Can anyone help identify this part?  It came with my partially disassembled '64 Eldorado. Now attempting to reassemble car with help of a local restoration shop here in Long Island, New York.

Thanks.

My car is parked in a way so I can't go and check. But if memory serves it does look like the part below the radiator. Have checked my MPB and I can't find it in it either.

That is the Radiator Air Deflector (Parts Group 1.272, Part # 147 9472). It attaches via 4 bolts to the bottom of the radiator support and lips above the front lower center bumper end bar.  It helps funnel air through the radiator by sealing from below and serves as a rock & debris shield. It should definitely be installed on any your car if it has been removed.

Here is a picture of mine:

I'll have to check our car, but I don't recall having that.

It was there from the factory.

... but have often seen them removed and not reinstalled.

Hey Jason, do you have one and if so, how much?

I am out right now. Maybe Russ or one of the others reading this has one. If not, I can add you to my Wait List.

Can you please bung me the wait list.

I'll check with Russ as well, but if you haven't got one, I doubt anyone would.

Kev, I have one for you.  email me at;  russ85747@hotmail.com

If its not there you should get it. In your climate it might help cooling the engine as per Jasons: "It helps funnel air through the radiator by sealing from below". My guess he can get you a good one.

Jason, Anders
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards,
Jeff

Is there a separate Starter Relay, or does the Solenoid serve that purpose?

Posted by Norman Silverman on August 30, 2019 at 5:57pm 7 Comments

Hello All.

I will be replacing the starter solenoid tomorrow (actually my mechanic will do the work, I'll just supervise). In checking the FSM electrical schematic and chapter verbiage, I don't see anything that looks like (or is referred to as) a starter Relay. It seems the Starter Solenoid serves the function and there's no separate relay. Right or Wrong?

If wrong, where…

Starter Solenoid replacement-how difficult? Where to buy?

Posted by Norman Silverman on August 20, 2019 at 8:24pm 8 Comments

Hello All.

I believe the starter solenoid has gone bad in my 64 DeVille. When I turn the key, often all I get is a click, then if I try a few times again the starter turns perfectly. All battery cables are on tight and the battery is good. So, I believe this problem is the solenoid. Where do I buy the right solenoid and is it necessary to remove the starter in order to swap it out? …

Can anyone shed some light on how to position the complete drive shaft in the correct position? I want to make sure my drive shaft is installed properly.

Thanks
