My son and I have decided to resell the Cowboy Cadillac (The Stories It Could Tell: 1963 Cowboy Cadillac | Barn Finds)  We bought it, hauled it from MN to UT, got into it and then my son decided it's not what he wanted after all and it's going to need a lot of work.  I have other projects and am just not interested in putting the time and effort into it.

As you can see from the photos, a lot of what the project car started at remains, essentially the Cowboy aspect hasn't changed.  Unfortunately, it sat for a long time and rust set in prior to our acquisition.  The lower panels are pretty bad and there is some frame rot over the rear axle (see photos).  Also, the rear differential is gone.  It has a '1' axle on it now, so it'll roll, but will need to be trailered.  It needs a '7' axle, which I haven't been able to find.  The engine ran great prior to being pulled (it's been sitting since).  We also have two transmissions after being told that the original transmission was bad - I suspect it was actually the rear differential, but there are two transmissions.  My son pulled all the wood out of the back due to rot.  He also peeled the stickers off the back, as he wanted to paint it (which it needs a new paint job).

So, the best part of this car is the engine (a big block Cadi') and the interior.  I also have a UT title.  All the pieces are there, and it could make someone a nice ride with a lot of work.

We'd like to get $4k, basically just recoupe our original costs.

Here it is:

The main factor is the length of the ceramic insulator from the middle of the spark plug to the tip (where the spark happens)

The insulator…

Lower Front End Ball Joints

Posted by Logan Robb on May 11, 2023 at 9:04am 7 Comments

Good Morning all!

I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…
