Does anyone have any info on doing a disc brake conversion? There has to be factory gm parts that bolt up to our car. I am trying to gather all of the info I need to do this conversion so I can convert the front of my car to disc brakes. So parts from the gm A body work? Do I need parts from the gm B body? I know one of you gents has the info I am looking for. As always , any info is greatly appreciated and once I complete the conversion I will share all of the info Keith you guys so we can all convert the front of our cars easily. There should be a sticky for this type of upgrade which would help everyone

I have a 63 Cadillac with a ls swap. I am putting a 76mm turbo on it and am almost finished with all of the fabrication. Once this is done I am going to need good stopping power that the factory drum brakes simply can not handle which is why I am so eager to figure out the parts that I need for the disk brake conversion. I know there are kits out there but this conversion can be done for much less then what they are being sold for online.

check the search engine in the upper right hand corner of the home page to access the library and all prior posts on brake upgrades ( and everything else ever posted here )

I think I remember reading that the 59 Cadillac front  disc brakes will bolt up to our year front brakes and require spacers of some kind but not 100 percent sure of that as it was some time ago

There is always an issue as to which rims can be used with a given set of disc brake replacements

Enjoy

pls do tell me your expected future HP with the turbo set up

Sure there are some on the sight that have —a used up 429 or 390 and will be considering the move you made with your new  LS engine and trans

At some point in the future Pls share all you can on this site about your outstanding project and a bit about your background to be considering such a project

This very well could be the future of our year Cadillacs when the 429 ( for 64 ) is a one year engine design that may be very hard if not impossible to acquire ( unless you are Jason Edge of coarse )

We all need to know more about the details of your project - acquiring the engine and the costs involved in doing such a wonderful upgrade —that may be a must do at some point in the future owning a 64

Enjoy

69 Cadi is a direct bolt up to the spindle. The disks are stupid expensive, so you are better off monetarily wise getting a kit from a dealer. There is a dealer that makes a kit where the tock wheel will fit, but the name eludes me.

Lower Front End Ball Joints

Posted by Logan Robb on May 11, 2023 at 9:04am 7 Comments

Good Morning all!

I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…

1964 power steering sector rebuild

Posted by CHRIS CARLSON on March 20, 2023 at 11:32pm 3 Comments

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response,   has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you

I've looked at the usual rubber sources but couldn't find any.
