I'm in the middle of replacing my rear main seal and need to rotate the driveline so I can install 2 nuts on the flywheel. Oil pan is off. What's the best way to go about this?

Pull the plugs, and grab the crank pulley.  Or put a bolt in the end of the crank and turn with a ratchet.

what size bolt? where?

The bolt goes into the end of the crank shaft, up by the radiator. I dont remember off hand what size it is.

I usually use a flywheel turning tool like this one...http://www.amazon.com/Powerbuilt-648455-Flywheel-Turning-Tool/dp/B0...

Or a strap wrench on the crankshaft pulley.
Pull the plugs out ,so the engine will spin more freely and easily( go to Neutral)
One of the Front bumper bolts is the same size as the crank pully bolt ,i am sure
I cannot give you the size ,but very sure ,Jason knows the size
If you install the bolt in the crank ,use a ratchet, with a --hydraulic jack handle -over that ,for all the leverage you could need ( just a 1/2 inch ratchet ,may work with the plugs out )
Real good to repair that seal and leak
Do fill us in on the tricks or special things you do to get this job done right
Were did you aquire all the parts and gaskets

I used a Proform 66782 crankshaft rotater tool when I rotated mine.

Pulley has to be off, mark location of pulley shim/washer holes with pulley since they seem to line up to holes one way when you put the pulley back on, use the pulley bolts to mount tool to damper.  I used  a ratchet at the end of the tool with a pipe for leverage.

Unless your engine is seized or has not been cranked in some time you should be able to remove spark plugs and grab the alternator belt and turn the engine.  A helper on the other side can assist.

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
