I am new to this site, and I would like to thank all of you in advance for your time, thoughts, and assistance.

I have a 64 6 window.  It is in good shape and it is a blast to own and drive, but it is showing its age in some places.  The long-term vision that I have for it leans to the resto-mod side.  However, I'd like to do it in a way that tips its hat to the car's vintage.

One of the things that I really would like to do is to suicide the rear doors.  I am confident that it can be done, but I have not been able to find any pictures where someone had actually done it.

I noticed that the mid 60s Caddy hearses have rear suicide doors.  Does anyone know whether the hinges and door architecture from the hearse can be placed into the 6 window Deville?  I know the hearse lacks the half B-pillar, but I would think that pose little problem.

The rear section of the back doors are not straight down, so that would make a large obstacle.  I have not seen any pics of it done, but that doesn't mean that it cant be done. With enough talen and skill most anything is possible.

You should check out modifiedcadillac.org.  somebody there has likely done it, and maybe you'll get some other ideas for future mods too, it was a very active forum when I used to check it.

Trunk Open and Lock Mechanism is in Closed Position

Posted by Chris Anderson on September 13, 2022 at 7:14pm 7 Comments

While working on my trunk lock on 64 Cadillac, I mistakenly closed the locking mechanism while the trunk was open.  Is there an easy way to manually release the lock back to the open position?

Thanks.

Fuel Pump Failure

Posted by Jon Shields on August 6, 2022 at 6:48am 3 Comments

Hello,

I'm located in Melbourne, Australia and my 64 sedan de ville is stuck in the garage due to failed mechanical fuel pump. The first after market mechanical fuel pump lasted a few years before it failed & left me stranded 5 hours from home. A hire car and tow got us home. On inspection, I noticed a valve not seated within the housing. I was optimistic, pressed it into place and assumed the pump was good to go. But alas, no. From what I can now determine, the diaphragm pushrod…
