I would like to replace all the burned bulbs in the dash of my ´63 Fleetwood 60 Special and I'm a little confused as I can't find the right sizes in the shop manual.
- If I'm wrong, I'd appreciate a page reference in the shop manual.
Can anyone tell me if all the cluster bulbs in the photo are BA9s?
The bulbs for generator, ignition and high beam work fine.
Many LEDs are offered in this sector but I've had bad experiences with that in
my 1980 GMC Pick Up and will therefore use classic bulbs of good quality.
I replaced all my dash bulbs. with Littlelite Q5 5 watt bulbs and they are bright and a nice color temperature
Thank you, Doug Scarrow and Kurt!
Especially for pointing me on the correct page in the shop manual with the bulb chart.
Fortunately the old part no.´s can be translatet into current part numbers like the BA9s-Sockets.
As I understand the shop manual it is sufficient to remove the upper dash pad for the replacement of the bulbs on the picture?
Correct. Removing the dash pad is not terribly difficult, just be careful when handling it. The vinyl at this age can be brittle and crack if flexed too hard. Tips are in the Help section.
This is a good time to inspect everything under the dash and repair or replace anything that needs attention (speaker, vacuum lines, etc.). I recently took my dash pad off to run a wiring harness for power vent windows. I found out the A/C 20%-100% vacuum power unit was bad and a wire I forgot to connect to the light switch from a previous project. By the time I got parts and finished everything up, the dash pad was off for about a month so plan accordingly.
