Hello all, my question pertains to interior of a recent barn find.  A 1963 cadillac sedan with 16000 original miles.  Unfortunately it had mice in the car, so of course the whole interior which is complete needs to come out.

When taking interuor door panels and seats to an interior shop would you strip the seats down or let the shop tear and rebuild them?  The seats just stink.

I would remove the seats and panels and take it to the shop and discuss with them. I would also buy a new carpet.

Just curious, why would a car with only 16 000 miles be put in a barn and left to rot? Doesn't make sense. You sure its not 116k or 216k miles?

I would also question the mileage. A car with that little miles would show very little interior wear.   Mice can cause a lot of damage and give an old car the rat piss smell but that does not wear the driver seat down like a care with 100K + miles.   Look at the brake pedal. Especially on the right side where the foot slides off to the gas pedal. Almost all the 100K mile + cars I have seen have significant wear down on the rubber tread. body styles (i.e. deVilles, Fleetwoods, Eldos) with the stainless trim around the pedal often get worn down and worn completely thru. With 16K miles that brake pedal should look like  new. If it is indeed 16K miles, that was a major find and congrats are in order. I like to be both skeptical and open minded on things like that.

it depends on what you'd like to have when your finished.  If you're looking for a full custom job, they won't care about the old covers, you can rip them off and throw them away.  If you'd like them to match what was originally there, they'll need the old to make patterns for the new, so keep them on.
The easy solution is to visit your upholsterer before you bring the seats, explain the situation and your expectations, and once you're committed that this is the company for you, let them tell you how they want the seats, and what the difference in price would be if they come stripped or not.
When I do a full rebuild, at least on door panels, I want to have the car present when I make the patterns.  Old rotten upholstery shrinks over time and warp, and I fit the new boards to the door opening rather than trusting the old pieces.  They will probably tell you to bring the car as it is for a full rebuild.

Appreciate the advice guys, car was from an old couple who couldn't drive anymore and car was kept in family, and no one touched it, till now

Could be a cool barn find. You might get a kick out of this, but my last car had lots of mice in it and has the "nice rat piss smell" and every time I walk my yorkies out by it I have to let them poke their head in and get a whiff!  I would explain the situation to the shop. They might want you to just remove the seat skins and bring them to them. In my parts car most of the smell seems to be form the carpet and not the seats.

So my 63 guide matic headlamps stay on low beam all the time. I have so far bypassed the system and everything works normal. I have been thru the trouble shooting in the manual but this is where the confusion begins.on my car when the power relay is powered I have low beam and when its not powered I have highbeam, this appears to be opposite what the diagnosis says should be correct. The wiring is all original and no wires have been mixed up.has anyone ever unplugged the 2 wire connector…

Stuck at two red (dash) lights!

I hope someone can help solve these two electrical problems that appeared one after the other.

By way of background: The car, a '64 Eldorado has very limited use. It was at a restoration shop for 15 months until last January-  that supposedly did a bunch of wiring repairs including rebuilding the gas gauge that still hasn't worked properly, and the clock that hasn't worked, and re-soldering the broken wires in the drive door. All window and seat controls appear to be…
