The rear windows will not go down on my 64 DeVille convertible. Front windows work fine. Any suggestions on how to get them down.

Thanks Richard

Did you try from the individual window switches? From the master Driver Switch? With the lockout switch in the spring loaded far left Emergency Position?
Can you provide any details on how or when they stopped working?  If they have worked did they work form individual switches and/or the master switch?

Thanks for the quick reply. This is a great forum. They were stuck up when I  bought the car. I will try the Emergency position and let you know.

Thanks Richard

I am assuming then you tried from both the master switch and the individual window switches. Make sure ignition is on. With the Lock Out switch it doesn't matter. Ignition can be off. Basically bypasses the relay.   It is easier to diagnose with a full picture of how things are working or not working before you just start diving into the rubber conduit between the driver door and the body of car... although breaks in the wires in this area is a common problem area. The fact your right front passenger window works (assuming from master switch and individual switch) makes you wonder if it could indeed be isolated issues at the rear qtr windows or isolated to feed wires in that rubber conduit. Again, it would be helpful to know the full details before jumping into anything. It is also easy enough to just pop the ash tray/lighter/switch receivers up in the back and make sure they have good contacts before tacking the driver door conduit.

I will go slow and try your recommendations.

Thanks for the help, Richard

Remove  the rubber wire harness located  in the drivers  door jam —  when  the door is open

Remove the rubber cover and when you find broken wiring in there rejoin all the color coded wiring by joining  them back together

Best to do with solder - heat shrink - and you may need some additional wire to bridge  the break as it is a tight place to be working

That SB your issue

Thanks for the quick reply.  I will look into the wire harness in the door.

Thanks Richard

Did you get his figured out ?

My rear windows on the 64 won't run either.

The  broken wiring in the drivers door  jam under the rubber boot was my issue for the rear window not working in my own case

So I removed the oil filter housing, and poured oil down the neck of the oil pump housing filled it up and filled up the filter put it all together and fired it up and same…

Trunk Open and Lock Mechanism is in Closed Position

While working on my trunk lock on 64 Cadillac, I mistakenly closed the locking mechanism while the trunk was open.  Is there an easy way to manually release the lock back to the open position?

Fuel Pump Failure

Posted by Jon Shields on August 6, 2022 at 6:48am 4 Comments

I'm located in Melbourne, Australia and my 64 sedan de ville is stuck in the garage due to failed mechanical fuel pump. The first after market mechanical fuel pump lasted a few years before it failed & left me stranded 5 hours from home. A hire car and tow got us home. On inspection, I noticed a valve not seated within the housing. I was optimistic, pressed it into place and assumed the pump was good to go. But alas, no. From what I can now determine, the diaphragm pushrod…
