I’m going to be starting to tear down my 64’ DeVille before too long but one thing I never figured out was how the roof trim comes off. I understand the drip rails and how to take those off without damage, but need advice on the trim that wraps the roof and continues under the back window.
Anyone have any knowledge on those? I don’t want to damage them.

I don't know if you have a shop manual but there is information in it for removing the trim. The drip rails hold it on the sides of the roof. To remove the front roof trim, you must remove the windshield to access the screws. Personally, I would not remove the front trim unless absolutely necessary. Mine was removed when my car was painted. In the process the windshield cracked. After that it took 3 tries to get the replacement windshield installed leak-free. The front reveal mouldings easily bend and dent too. In retrospect, I would have been better off having the painter tape off the front roof trim and not remove it. Now, if you must remove it, just know all the extra work entailed. The roof trim under the rear glass is held on by spring clips. If I remember correctly, most (maybe all?) of the retaining  nuts can be accessed from the trunk.

I do have a shop manual and have browsed through it some. Was seeing if anyone had personal experience and tips for removal. I do have two cars to make into one great one, so I guess if I need to learn on one I can. Looking at it, I figured the front trim has screws under the windshield so thanks for the confirmation on that. They all do need to be removed. The body I am working on had an awful repaint job at one point and I will have to get under that trim to fix it.
Thank you. I will be sure to take my time with those and be really careful.
