Recently purchased a 63 series 62 and it was not optioned with rear seat belts. i just purchased 4 new seat belts. the rears are easy as cake but the fronts i cant get them out of the center area of the seat!

the ones nearest to the doors are easy but the ones that go "inside: the seat seem to go in a small grove and out the center. does the seat need to come apart?

hope my description makes sense. thanks for the help!

Seat does not come apart
The side with the heavy latch ,slides through the seat to a bolt hole in the floor
Mine are on either side of the front arm rest
Was it possible to get a car without any seat belts ? Mine don't..

My 64 hearse only had the rubber plugs, no belts.

Seat belts were an option

Rear Seat belts were an option for all of 1963 and 1964.

Front Seat belts were on option on all 1963's, and an option on 1964's only up to a point when they switched over and became optional after Engine (VIN) Number 57000.  It is in the January 1964 Serviceman Bulletin page 8 available from our Literature Page.

Click Here for a direct link to the page.

Regardless pre-drilled holes are in the front and back floor boards, filled with rubber plugs when not used. Check the pictures in the Seat Belt page access from our Help Topics page for location references.
