Admittedly, I am horrible at searching on the web so if there is a thread here already covering this topic that I overlooked, I apologize in advance.
I have been trying to find out what the seat belt laws are (in Ohio particularly) for older cars not originally equipped with seatbelts , ie, 63 Caddy. Do I need to add seat belts for my passengers or grandchildren? There seems to be a lot of vagueness to the laws. I even called my local police department, hoping to get a clear answer, but got more vagueness. Lieutenant Kelly stated "Enjoy your grandchildren. No officer in our city will stop you. But if there is an accident, the law will apply." One section of the code states that ALL passengers must have seat belts I am hoping that one of our members may have experience or maybe even be an attorney, that has a definitive answer to this question. This is what I have found out:
As of January 1,1962, all cars manufactured must have at a minimum, anchorage points for seat belts for the front seat passenger and driver.
Every driver and front seat passenger must wear a seat belt
"Every child under 8-years old must ride in a booster seat or other appropriate child safety seat unless the child is 4' 9" or taller. Every child 8 to 15 years old that is not secured in a car seat must secured in the vehicles seat belt."
Ohio Revised code Section 4513.263 | Occupant restraining devices states:
(B) No person shall do any of the following:
(1) Operate an automobile on any street or highway unless that person is wearing all of the available elements of a properly adjusted occupant restraining device,
(2) Operate an automobile on any street or highway unless each passenger in the automobile who is subject to the requirement set forth in division (B)(3) of this section is wearing all of the available elements of a properly adjusted occupant restraining device;
**note, I added the bold text and underline to emphasize the fact that the law used the word "available"
I would love to get a clear answer on this if possible. My car is just about ready to roll and I would love to take my grandchildren out for ice cream before the weather changes without worrying about a traffic ticket. I know some of you are going think, why take a chance with your grandchildren riding without seat belts, I don't have a good answer to that other than I know that they would get a huge kick out of cruising with top down with grandma and grandpa!

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
