Took my girlfriend's mother back to Sylvester Georgia yesterday after staying with us for the holidays. Her dad's wife Shirley's great grandson Blake has a dirt bike that wouldn't run. We checked it for spark, it has spark we checked it for fuel, it had no fuel getting through the carburetor. I know this because I poured a little bit in the carb and it tried to start.
I told him let's pull the bowl off the carburetor and see if the float is stuck. Which it was, cleared it reinstalled the bowl attached the fuel lines and it started right up.
You may be asking yourself how is this related?
Well I'll tell you, I am not a mechanic but I learned all this from working on my 1964 Cadillac Rochester 4-barrel carburetor.

That's the great thing about carburetors. You can fix them yourself and usually it doesn't take a whole lot of work to get them back in action. Glad to hear you were able to fix it using some knowledge you picked up from working on your car.
When an engine won't run check these three basics.
1. Gotta have fuel
2. Gotta have spark
3. Gotta have spark at the correct time
Sounds simple but 99% of the time It will lead you to the problem
I was always taught, there are 4 things you needed.
1. Compression.
2. Fuel
3. Spark.
4. All of the above in the correct order
Pretty much the same thing as Ian said, but I like the sound of my own voice..... PMSL :-)

Good Morning all!
I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response, has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you

I've looked at the usual rubber sources but couldn't find any.
