What would it entails to replace the engine with an electric motor in my 64 Limo

I checked online and see no 60s Fleetwood Limo EV conversion and wonder, if I should do it. Please give your diligent opinion / comment / advise on this idea. There is a 1100(lb-ft) torque electric motor with TH400 spline for sale.  it will rotate up to 4000rpm, which I feel will move a 63 Limo at right velocity.  Also, 1100 (lb-ft) torque is well over the current engine torque.  Hence . I feel this is feasible.  Of course there are other components and wiring to get this motor to drive the car. Let me hear the voices - keep them coming guys.

Thankfully, in advance.

Do it.

Fascinating thought. What and where would the battery supply be located?  How many miles on a full charge?

There are various types of batteries at various prices, suitability, construction, packaging etc. etc.

Finding a location in a 75series Limo will not be a problem, once the type of batteries, physical parameters etc. are determined , I guess.

Give me an idea of the batteries, you would propose for this kind of EV, if you may.

George, I have no idea of what batteries to propose. Please do keep us informed of the possibilities.

 Sounds like a real challenge.

George

You are the very first person on this site to suggest an EV powered Antique Cadillac in our years

I am on here daily since 2006 so I know that that is the case

Electric power is surely the new technology and the performance of the cars is really rather amazing to me  Many zero to 60 times being very fast in sport model  vehicles

Sure attempting a project of that nature will take a lot of skills especially being one of the very first to attemp it

Enjoy

You know this is the future, we need to limit emission, if at all possible.  At this stage with this car, either way, I hv to spend $$$ to get it moving, so I thought why not go electric as it is a viable proposition now more than ever. If you research, you will see this is a can do idea, just a matter of $$$, I guess.

Lower Front End Ball Joints

Posted by Logan Robb on May 11, 2023 at 9:04am 7 Comments

Good Morning all!

I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…

1964 power steering sector rebuild

Posted by CHRIS CARLSON on March 20, 2023 at 11:32pm 3 Comments

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response,   has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you
