I recently replaced my window seals around the perimeter for the passenger door, due to a leak that came in on heavy or sustained rains,, it would come in and down between the vent wdw and the main window.

the rubber seals really did knock out window noise and draft sounds amazing how much it helped.  but i still get that leak.  ti goes down to floor boards and gets carpet wet,,,

i have not yet, used an adhesive to make the rubber stay up, because it didnt seem like any was used in the piece i pulled out, it just sort of gravity fits in the channel and seems to hold,,

i looked at the under side of the channel where the rubber seal fits in and at about the place it seems the water is coming down there is a set of screws that hold up a metal strip,,,at the assumed point of entry, there is one rusted screw and a small gap were the two metals seem to should be overlap.  and i kind of think that is were the water is coming down and that gap is where its dropping on to the rubber, then into the car.. 

My first thought is to put some silicone or something on the screw and gap, but i got to thinking that there is a channel there that is supposed to drain, and by putting caulk there would  block cause a back up and water would go into a nother part...of the window and in to another part of the car.

So, do i need to find a small piece of sheet metal, and cut it to fit in there or would a touch of caulk on that gap work...

Can you take some pictures?

here is picture, its at the crease where the window goes down, over the vent wdw

the screw at this juncture is busy,, all others are nice and brassy looking,, theres a gap next tot he screw, and a small gap at the junction of the two planes.

let me know if you need any further pictures

How sure are you that your leak is coming in  the window at that point and getting the  passenger floor carpet wet ?

The heater core leaking on the passenger side would be a source of a wet passenger side floor — just saying

could be a consideration in that location

Sorry to say I do not have a good solution for that leak location 

Hope some others have the fix for your leak issue

yeah,  i know,  the water comes down and finds it weakest point about mid way down the vent window, then drips on the floor into the carpet.  but i see little beads of water up high at that window bend sometimes. especially when the rubber was cracked and bad...

The new seal should seal up that area. That chrome trim is sealed to the body, so you may need to remove it and reseal it. It is OK to seal that screw, but no water should be there anyways.  The area where the vent window and window meet up top is a poor sealing area.  You can shim the rubber seal down some to help, but the window should go up all the way to seal it.

ok, so you think i should undo the top couple screws in that channel hat the rubber fits in ,put a caulk in were it sits again the underside of the window opening, seal up the screw,  

i just didn't want to put in caulk, then have dam up in another place...

should i adhesive the rubber ?  with a light coat of 3m adhesive??

i went back out opened the door, poured water on roof,,, ( should a done this to start) what a dumbass!!

anyway,, water is entering the roof gutter were three pieces of trim come together just above the vent wdw .  water is dropping down, then flowing down behind the metal channel that holds the window rubber, its not even hitting rubber, but going down the topside of the metal channel..till it gravity pulls it over to the inside of the window opening and it drips on the upper door panel then down tot he floor..  

i guess i should try to caulk that seam somehow on the roof to stop water from going down the seam, and then the under side of the roof gutter to keep it off the upper side of the metal channel..

i will follow with a couple pictures..

Easy to fix. Get some seam sealer from a auto paint and body supply shop. Get masking tape and small acid brushes too.  Tape off the chrome trim and the side of the rain gutter.  Apply the seam sealer.

Then, smooth the seam sealer by dipping an acid brush in lacquer thinner and stroking in one direction until the right finished look is achieved, and finally prime and paint

driveshaft help

can anyone help me with a driveshaft ? I have a 1963 Cadillac 62 series 4dr with the hydro-matic trans. I need the male splined shaft on the front of the rear driveshaft section. the piece with the nut attached by clip.id be willing to buy a shaft if its not horribly priced.

Hello everyone,

On a 63 CDV, if a guy wanted to remove the entire dash to get all the metal painted, and do some other things behind there, how would he go about doing that?  I checked here and the shop manual, but can't find a complete guide.

3655S carb, and a 3656S carb .I know the difference is one is for A/C and the other in for a non A/C car . Now the question is : can I use the carb bowl from the A/C car on the non A/C car ? They look the same set up next to each other
