Well,  after the tire change, car running good......... then on a pleasure cruise for abour 35 miles to my destination.   25 miles in, back end vibration came back home to roost.  I was goung 55 to 65 on the trip.  Had to pyll over.  Now, im not the type to lose my temper, throw tools, or hv tantrums, but im gettin to my wits end on this.   After i pulked over, i felt the hubcake,  not overly hot.  So i decided to drive on at about 40,  as i got miving i pushed on up to 55, not one vibration.   So,  wtf coukd it possibly be from here.

I have had.....

Shoes changed

Changed cylinder.... twice! First new one was stuck!

Axle gasket replaced

Tires replaced

Had drums re cut,

Whats left?

If you've read any of my posts Kim I'm all about upgrades. I'm talking fuel injection LOL

Oh, yeah , i hv read many.   I dnt understand what you said in the injector post,  but i did read what ?  near 17 mpg? Now that i can understand,  the basics.  .  Like you,  i just wsnt it to ride best it can, within my mechanical skillset and budget.  Btw,  hv ypu finally gotten that injector thing fine tuned for normal folk consumtion, or will it be, on these older units, a constant exercise of tuning and re tuning

Kim, Good job!

Tony, there is a stretch of toll road between Austin & San Antonio TX that is 85MPH. I remember when it 1st opened (Oct 2012) People were hitting wild pigs crossing the toll road at night. They fixed that problem pretty quickly. I haven't heard of any reports since then.

Jason, did you guys take the toll road anywhere when you were here for the GN?

My reality is 70,  if i can go 70 at will on hiway, im just fine.  The 73 eldo conv does just great at 70.  I dnt usually need to go any faster in these cars as im just cruisn, stylin. And or profiling, so its seen, not heard,  i figured if i am going so fast, and to quote an old hot rod lincoln song. Telephine post look like a picket fence,,,,then no one can see me, so whats the point.   Thats my take and im stickin to it.

Took the car for an extended ride this afternoon. Hit all speeds up to 80,   no problems, no shake, no vibrations.

ran at 70 for extended periods with no apparent problems...I think i like driving it at 68.  it just feels like a good speed, at least on a two lane highway,, interstate may be more 70 to 75, but for now,, i like 65 to 68,

car does seems to ride heavier, more stable at this time after the rear arm change. no sway, so at this point, for me, it was a worthy change, especially since the vibration is now, apparently gone.

thanks for all the help

Its not vibrating now,   i know i can jump up to 70+ if i need to,  and for now, thats good enough.  Gonna just ride a while.

id say so,,, it rides very nicely now,,, no shakes, rattle or rolls,,, keeping fingers crossed,,

Hi can you provide some feedback on where you would recommend placing jack stands on the front end? I'm pulling an engine and transmission out of my parts car and I can't find a definitive clear answer on the best place to set the jack stands under the frame.

Hey.  If u hv a manual, under frame i think, it tells you the lift points

thanks I'll look I do have a shop manual.

At the frame rail where the #2 body bracket is. Thats where I put my jack stands on the parts cars.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
