I had my 64 Coupe Deville Dash Clock serviced through Clock Works probably 6 to 8 years back and it has worked great except having to reset it from time to time.  In recent months it has sometimes stopped (a tap usually brings it back to life) and while it probably just needs cleaning and I do appreciate the original spring action electro mechanical workings, I decided to let Clock Works convert it to quartz and just sent it out for conversion yesterday. In doing so I obtained updated pricing and other information and thought I would share the details with everyone. .

Converting Dash Clock to Quartz
Per Clock Works: This movement should run 10 years without the need for periodic service and keep much more accurate time than the original type movement. Unlike some conversions, our installation will not alter the hands or face of the clock and will run off your car’s existing wiring. The original set stem remains functional.

- Cost:  $159.95 plus shipping + $13 return shipping in the US.
- Warranty: 2 years

Servicing & Refurbishing the Original Dash Clock
- Cost:  The price to service the original movement is $59.95 with a possible $30 coil charge if the electrical coil is damaged and needs replacement. Add $13 return shipping in the US.
- Warranty 1 year

Converting Rear Seat 75 Series (Limo) Clock to Quartz
 - Cost: $169.95 to $189.95. Various clocks were used for this application so the actual
cost will depend upon which clock was used.  Add $13 return shipping in the US.
- Warranty: 2 years

Additional Notes:

Two Brands brands: Borg and Westclox.
Our dash clocks were supplied by Borg and WestClox. Once removed you will see their name stamped on the back of the casing. 

To Remove:
Grip outer chrome rim firmly and rotate clock counter clockwise about 1/6 turn or to about the 10 o'clock position and pull straight out. (It usually takes a very firm grip.....no sissy gripping if you want to remove the clock!) Disconnect light and power connector being careful not to touch inside of power connector to metal. It is enclosed in a hard plastic shield and can just be laid down on the lip of the opening until ready to reinstall the clock, however, if you will have it unplugged for a length of time or moving wires around you might want to put electrical tape over the end.  

Cleaning:
There has been more detailed info posted on cleaning these clocks however, I have found a blast of compressed air to remove the dust and debris will often bring them back to life. The tuner lubricant cleaner that Radio Shack sells is also good to clean the inner components of the clock (and many other electrical/mechanical components).
