You should have access now. I had to change a setting to allow members access to the advanced CSS features.

  • Kurt

    Bingo! That did it. Thanks.

  • Jason Edge

Glad that worked.  The page looks great!!

Hi Rhett, Good to have you back and Happy New Year.  I'm glad you like our new website! We've come a long way in a few months thanks to all of our member support from people like yourself! Jason

Hi MIke, Yeah, I think I joined the old MSN site around 2000 when there was less than 100 members, then later created the Multiply hosted site when MSN shut down, then moved the 63/64 site here to the Ning hosted site when MSN shut down last year.   We have been like a turtle in that we just pick up and take our house with us when it is time to move on!  Good to have you with us!

Nothing right now frank. Send me an email to jasonedge@nc.rr.com with year, body style, color preference, and if you need a console and will ad you to my "needs list".  I've brought 4 sets in over the years (3 for coupes and 1 for sedans) and they are usually sold by the time I get them (and the mounting brackets) out of the car.  D

Cliff, Rubber the right way or Steele Rubber are good sources. I know Steele Rubber has a very good catalog with illustrations. Be sure and download their catalog. Both are listed on our Parts Suppliers page.

For AC/Heat troubleshooting Cadillac Tim (Tim Groves) puts out an excellent Diagnostics manual. You will also find him listed in the Parts Suppliers page.  The $49 for the manual is money well spent.  Of course a shop manual is the #1 item you want to have in your hand.

On the choke, the threaded connector, is for the  choke tube that goes from choke, to intake choke tube on passenger outside of intake. You should have a hole there that the tube inserts into.

Most auto parts stores here stock them but not sure which ones will ship to the UK. AutoZone around the corner from me sells them for $10.49. Here is there link: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1964-Cadillac-Deville/Brake-...

I know Kanter (www.kanter.com) and other big national parts suppliers such as USA Parts (www.usapartssupply.com) listed in our Parts Suppliers page will have them. I sell parts on the side and can pick up the AutoZone one listed above and sell for $20 + s/h to make a bit for my time and effort.  Email me at jasonedge@nc.rr.com if you wanted to go that route.

Hi Jason, I finally found one a few months back. Those things are damn difficult to find. Took about 6 years to find a replacement sensor grill. I went ahead and redyed the faded dash and installed the new sensor already. You can check it out in my pictures. The parts car that you brought in looks great. I'm sure there are some parts on that car that are in better shape than the ones on my car so I may be sending you another message soon.

    Chris

  • Jason Edge

Thanks for the update Chris. I will bump down to next person on the list and will check our your dash. The latest parts car is an eclectic  mix. Of course first dibs goes to a a Gold Coupe DeVille located in Garner, NC! :-)

  • Dan Davis

Thanks Jason. Looking forward to getting back to work on my car.
What a wealth of information available here. Making progress sorting out all the web and facebook sites..May need help from grand kids!

You can post as many as you like. --> Click Photo's, Click +Add, find pics on your PC and upload. Once uploaded you can assign an album title and add a tag to help organize and find later.

For parts for sale I have easily over 100,000 parts from 40 parts cars. For common items I will usually have plenty, for hard to find item I have a back log and keep a running "Needs List" (over 500 entries long at this point) and will be glad to add items I don't have. Using a list provide first come first service to those asking first. Several items off the current 64B parts car have went out to members on the list dating back to 2009 and 2010.  Send me an email to jasonedge@nc.rr.com and list the specific body year, body style and description to ID parts.

I do occasionally list items on an ongoing message thread here on the 63/64 Cadillac Site at :
    http://6364cadillac.ning.com/profiles/blogs/classic-cadillac-parts-...

and on my Classic Cadillac Parts Facebook page at
    www.facebook.com/classiccadillacparts

And of course general information about my parts at www.ClassicCadillacParts.com

  • Jason Edge

Thanks, Don. Hope you and your family had a good one, too!

    Jason.

  • Jason Edge

That's fantastic.  Your gear was really stripped! Yes, please fell free to ask me and others on the site for help. That is what we are here for. Jason.

My Cadillac only has 68,000 miles on it and has a beautiful white leather interior. I found it in LosAngelos and my brother drove it to his house in SanDiego. He keeps sending pictures of him driving it and it is driving me crazy! He sais the tranny is shifting funky so I hoping a fluid change and a little tweaking of the TV rod corrects the issues.
  • Jason Edge

Donnie, feel free to post a message about your car on the Message Board. I would start a new message as "FOR SALE - PARTS CAR - ......." and give details. If the entire car was for sale and you were closer to me I would be interested if the price is right.

Hi Charles! Thanks for the head ups about Lisa A. They have been deleted and marked as a spammer. We had one other get thru a while back and I increased the # of questions for joining.   We do encourage the ladies to join but for the right reasons, their passion for all things 1963 & 1964 Cadillac! Anyway, it is good to have you posting here and helping keeping the site on track. If anyone else gets this type of spamming from our site let me know. You all would be surprised at how many spamming requests I have. Most don't take the time to answer the sign up questions, much less provide reasonable answers.

  • Jason Edge

Be sure and check out our Help Topics page. See you on the boards, Jason.

    Hi, Jason,
I admired your Escalade EXT in the last club magazine, do they make that vehicle in 3/4 ton? I'm using a 2001 GMC 2500 currently to pull my 39 Buick in a 24' enclosed trailer, wonder if the EXT could pull that?
I have a '64 Fleetwood Sixty Special, can't decide whether to do a frame off or frame on restoration. It's not in bad shape, but started some work on it when it had a little damage to RR quarter, then was not sure where to stop. I know the cost difference is substantial. The resto shop I talked to told me it depends on how much you love the car. Not sure how to answer that. My grandma had a'64 Sedan deVille, that is probably what attracted me to the Fleetwood.
    Thanks for a great forum.
  • Jason Edge

Paul, I sent email reply the day before. I have medium 63/64 chapter shirts on hand. I'll forward the reply back to you.

That information would be in the 1964 Cadillac Specification Manual.  You can sometimes find them on ebay, and a great source of tons of information on these cars, especially if you want to know what the cars were originally equipped with. My email address is (and has been 10+ years now) jasonedge@nc.rr.com  Shoot me an email anytime. Jason.

  • Jason Edge

Shoot me an email to jasonedge@nc.rr.com. I've been restoring mine for 18 years and tell people I have restored about 2/3's of it but want to go back and redo the first 1/3! LOL  It is definitely an ongoing process. I will be glad to help you as I have but you have over 1200 members here on the site and many are eager to help and encourage you to post your restoration questions, and updates on our Restoration & Authenticity Forum here on the site at http://6364cadillac.ning.com/forum/categories/restoration-authentic....  As they say 2 heads are better than one... and 1200 heads are definitely better than one!  The same goes for everyone with restoration, or other technical question... please feel free to post here on the site so that EVERYONE can help and learn at the same time!

  • mark mccullough

Jason, thanks again for your comment and help. the question i had on the bracket/ holding device on the top driver side of core support looks like it held some sort of data plate. my cowl tag is there intact.   i will put this question out to any members who might have this on their car, looks like it holds a tag or plate the size of a credit card. or does any one remember GM protecto-plates?

Jason you think I got a shot at 2016 calender

  • Jason Edge

Hi Michael. If you are talking about the CLC MRC calendar contest I just posted info at this link: http://6364cadillac.ning.com/profiles/blogs/2016-clc-museum-researc... You will also find it posted on the main CLC Site over on the right.

Is the heater hose "hot" on the heater core side of the water control valve? If it is, it is letting hot water to the heater core and will need to diagnose further. If not, you have issue at the water control valve. In heat mode you should have no vacuum at the water control valve diaphragm nipple leaving the valve open so hot water can flow through. In AC mode, Vacuum forces the diaphragm to close the valve.  From there I would check the diagnostics in the shop manual and Tim Groves Comfort Control Diagnostics manual.

  • Jason Edge

Frank, if your 1964 is a Coupe DeVille (body style 6357, VIN 64J......), in addition to the items Russ mentioned (shift quadrant display, front driveshaft, gear shift linkage, etc)  you will have different cross-member yaw mounts, neutral safety switch, and you need to make sure the 390 engine/trans setup includes the TV Rod, starter, trans inspection covers, rear trans mount, etc, as all of that is different between the Hydrmatic and Turbo Hydramatic Transmissions.

  • Jason Edge

Dusty, I do not understand the comment "I have a hole in diagram in servo"??? I will just say that the shop manual and Cadillac Tim Groves 64 Comfort Control Diagnostics Manual are the two items you need to go through and diagnose the system.  Almost all illustrations from the shop manual can be accessed from our Help page under AC/Heat. If you look through those illustrations you will have what I have and what is in the shop manual but not all the text and diagnostics, nor all the great info in Tim Grove's book. If serious about getting your system right, have both manuals handy.

    Good afternoon Jason,

Hope you're doing well today - I just left a message on your VM regarding some expansion plugs for a '63; specifically: rear cam plug, two threaded plugs for the rear oil galley, two front cup-style plugs, and the four plugs required to seal the rocker shaft ends.  I understand you're busy - hope to hear from you soon.

    Best,

    Christopher

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for welcoming me.  I recently decided that this era is the next one I hope to add to my Caddy collection.  I like the 60 specials and of course the Coupe DeVilles and convertibles.  I have three model 314s from 1926 and 1927, two roadsters and a dual cowl phaeton.  I believe these cars may be the largest intact collection of open Model 314s which were low production.  It's been a 38 year effort to get this far with them (it all began in 1986 after a friend found them in Oklahoma.  We bought them together but he bailed out as the restoration costs got higher than expected).  I also have a 1965 model 62 convertible and a 1940 LaSalle 50 series special coupe.  I look forward to meeting you at some point, perhaps at the Grand National?  I plan to bring my 1927 Model 314 Roadster.  Best regards.  Mike

  • Michael Goldblatt

Correction,  the 62 series convertible is a 1956.

  • Scott Santora

    Hello Jason,

I just started on a restoration of my father's 1963 convertible. Searching the web for parts and information is what brought me to this group. The car has only been in my family since the day it rolled off the showroom floor. First my father's car, then my mother's when he passed, and now that mom has passed, it is mine. My dad bought the car brand new in July of '63' and I even have the original receipt for the purchase! The car has 22,006 original miles on it and has been garaged it's entire life. I am hoping to make this a driver and to get this beautiful land yacht back on the road before summer's end. Probably a long shot but hey, I figure I need goals (no matter how improbable).

So I am definitely at he very beginning of the project. I have the radiator out getting re-cored and the fuel tank getting cleaned and coated. The car runs but I don't think there is a single gasket or seal that's not leaking. Currently I am just trying to amass the obvious parts and get the information I need to keep the car original. I'm sure I'll be on here plenty looking for help, information and guidance so I can do this project right.
