"Hi Daniel The heavy spring on the fuel pumps arm will make it impossible to blot the new pump in ——if the engines cam ( which the pumps arm  rides on ) is not in the right location when bolting the fuel pump in your engine…"

"Motor Mount goes behind the engine mounting flanges on left driver side and in front of the engine mounting flanges on the right passenger side.  Looks like you got it in front on the left driver side."

"Maybe a stupid question but,  does your mechanic understand the he needs to turn the engine so that the cam is right position to get the pump in?  They  don’t normally slide right in, it takes a little fiddling.  "

"1477857 is the casting number for a 63 390 block, so you definitely have the right engine. The 64 429 is basically the same engine with slightly larger bore/stroke. External accessories are the same. I used a Carter M3993 pump on my 429, and it fit…"

"I bought the Carter M3993 pump for my 64 429. The 63 390 takes the same pump. It fit and works perfectly. I got mine from Rockauto. They have it in stock."

"I just got one from ebay the problems is that the round part circumference of the one we need is 3 3/8" and it looks like yours a compression fit the one we got is 4" and has screw but it wont clear the surroundings."

"There are 2 versions of fuel pumps used. Both work as advertised. the pump on the right is the original design. There has been problems with the remanufactured original design pumps (new and reman) The valves pop out after a tear to 3…"

Lower Front End Ball Joints

Good Morning all! 



I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…

1964 power steering sector rebuild

 I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response,   has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you
