Belt line trim for ‘64 series 62

In search of the C Pillar belt line trim pieces for a 1964 Cadillac Series 62 coupe.  I’ve put feelers out to the heavy hitter parts supplier guys on here, but haven’t had any luck yet.  Any leads would be greatly appreciated.  They are unique to the series 62 coupe so I’m afraid I won’t be able to track them down.  Need the ends circled for both sides. Thanks.  See More

Power window switch question

I was wondering how the OEM power window switch emergency/lock/normal switch is SUPPOSED to function.  Mine has obviously been monkeyed around with, as the relay is missing and it only works in “emergency” mode, which I have read about here and in the user manual.  The question I have, is I can get the switch to engage or “click into” both emergency and lock mode, but the switch won’t click into normal mode, as if you have to hold the switch in place with your hand to keep it in normal mode.  I…See More

Turn signal switch problems

Hello all, have a problem with my ‘64 Series 62 where the horn comes on when the headlights are on at the same time as the left turn signal.  Thanks to Russ’s advice, I believe I have found the problem in the worn through wire on the switch.i also have a problem where I must hold the right turn signal up/ in position to keep it blinking.  I assume this means I need a new switch, but this one is unlike any GM turn signal switch I’ve ever seen.  Attached are pictures of the pigtails and the…See More

Introducing myself

Thanks for letting me join the club.  Picked up this ‘64 Coupe Deville a few months ago out of Beverly MA, the car has few stickers on it from various Cadillac clubs, didn’t know if anyone might recognize it from it’s “Glory days.” Everything seems pretty healthy except for the body and some very Mickey Mouse repairs, was wondering if anyone had any leads on…

Spark Plug Heat Range

I found a diagram that illustrates the main factor in determining a spark plug heat range that I was trying to describe to you during the chapter get together.

Here it is:

The main factor is the length of the ceramic insulator from the middle of the spark plug to the tip (where the spark happens)

The insulator…

Lower Front End Ball Joints

Posted by Logan Robb on May 11, 2023 at 9:04am 7 Comments

Good Morning all!

I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…
