Hi AllI sold my Caddy - And I kinda miss it.  But I have some parts for sale to people that appreciate these fine cars. I decided to 'smooth' mine - so I won't be needing this.  The ones withOUT the…Continue

New Water Pump - Only One Leak :+)

Posted on July 21, 2015 at 6:17pm 10 Comments

So I got this project all done - only broke 2 bolts.

Got everything all buttoned up and tested it.  I have a pretty strong leak - started as a drip but as engine got hot it turned to a spray - under the left lower bolt head on the outlet pipe.  No leaks at the pump itself (yet)

Of course, its the most difficult one to get at - will have to remove alt and oil pump upper mount just to get a wrench on it.  It is leaking at the bolt head - not at the mating surface on the…

So... I had this Rumbling sound....

Posted on July 3, 2015 at 5:33pm 26 Comments

Couldn't figure it out.  Thought it was my carrier bearing but it started sounding off when parked and idling. Invested $1.99 in a HF stethoscope and couldn't find NUTHIN.  Well, maybe its the Tranny.  Still didn't make sense (kinda like my gas gauge)

The other night I went for a ride with my wife and the rumble got REAL LOUD - REAL FAST.  Next was a bang and the sound of a 'part' clanging on the road - then steam and the smell of coolant.  Freak'n Great!

One of the blades on…

Electric Fuel Pump is next

Posted on January 24, 2015 at 1:26pm 20 Comments

Hi All

I have to drop my tank to adjust my sending unit.  While I'm at it I want to install an Electric Fuel pump - noticed that some of you have done this mod.  Eventually I'm gonna swap a 500 into my '63 so Now's as good as any.  I read a good post on ModCad that used an oil pressure switch as a safety - a good idea!

Wiring modern audio

Posted on October 9, 2014 at 8:23pm 7 Comments

Well, I got my window trim to 'click in' - just had to beat the snot out of it!  On to the next project - Audio...

My head unit calls for 3 wires and a ground (that's easy)

One to Acc. - that's on the fuse block - already used it for the air suspension

One to constant hot - I guess its to keep the setting from vanishing when the car is just sitting.  Where is the best place to tap that source?

And one to 'illumination' -  I guess that's the interior light dimmer…

I didn't do the bags. But I've replaced the rear ones. They basically go where our existing springs are. Then u have an upper plate and a lower cup. The airbag is samwiched  between. There r fittinngs on top that the hose goes into. Then its a matter of routing all our hose back to where u want ur valves and compressor's and tank. I run a I think its 8 valves. Just depends on how many separate bags u want to operate. Like I can deflate each separately or all at once or just the back or just the front. The only down fall is the front is so heavy u have to have the tank full to lift it . there's a couple relays and some other electrics stuff too. U can buy kits with everything if our interested.

any ideas how to clear the ugly black stuff shooting out from my tailpipe? After a long layover, it really messes up the garage floor. I assume its carbon but am not sure how best to react to it.…Continue

Posted by wayne weaver on November 26, 2019 at 11:53am 0 Comments

well thank you UPS for losing the driveshaft that Russ Austin shipped me.

however i still need a rear driveshaft section for my 63. mine has a vibration due to the bushing inside of it. its a shame because the ball and sockets in the cardian joints are perfect but it has a woble on the balancing machine. so .  still need the rear section. anyone have a good one ? is there driveshaft alternatives to use ? i am really considering an LS swap and since im fighting the driveshaft search…

63 guidematic issues

Posted by maurice lapoiinte on November 24, 2019 at 3:10pm 0 Comments

So my 63 guide matic headlamps stay on low beam all the time. I have so far bypassed the system and everything works normal. I have been thru the trouble shooting in the manual but this is where the confusion begins.on my car when the power relay is powered I have low beam and when its not powered I have highbeam, this appears to be opposite what the diagnosis says should be correct. The wiring is all original and no wires have been mixed up.has anyone ever unplugged the 2 wire connector…

Another advantage of the Pertronix III

Posted by Doug Scarrow on November 23, 2019 at 11:12am 1 Comment

Having tried both the II and III I can say the multispark feature of the III offers a smoother idle . It is also easier to install .Does not require removal of the distributor

Stuck at two red (dash) lights!

Posted by Jeff Kinzler on November 3, 2019 at 10:00pm 9 Comments

I hope someone can help solve these two electrical problems that appeared one after the other.

By way of background: The car, a '64 Eldorado has very limited use. It was at a restoration shop for 15 months until last January-  that supposedly did a bunch of wiring repairs including rebuilding the gas gauge that still hasn't worked properly, and the clock that hasn't worked, and re-soldering the broken wires in the drive door. All window and seat controls appear to be…
