"Left and right are not interchangeable.  I would assume that the casting numbers indicate left and right. I do have a cleaned and professionally inspected left head for 150.00 plus shipping. Please email me at russ@thecadishack.com "

Head casting numbers

Hi,  My LH cylinder head is cracked.  Casting number is 1473449.  I noticed in the part number book it lists two casting numbers.  Does anyone know if that means 1473449 and 1468025 are interchangeable?  They don't correspond to left/right because both my heads are 1473449.  I found a 1468025 for sale on ebay.  Thank youSee More

"Thank you for the kind words. I was really going for an old school hot rod kind of thing. That’s why I kept the straight axle. I already bought the kit so hopefully the crankshaft adapter fits. :) "

Hi Shep2 and welcome to the 63/64 family! Your truck looks awesome! That bad boy will be a rocket ship with the 390, if you can get any traction!! I do not know what performance level your engine is but I would suggest using stock exhaust manifolds. The pair that fit the 1963 have a very efficient design and may work well with your application. I have a 1963 Coupe deVille that I converted to dual exhaust. I am using 2" pipe front to back with 2" Porter mufflers and could not be happier. My car has a 3;21 axle ratio, not sure what you will be using. The Porters are mellow at idle, bark when pushed, and near silent at highway speed. I loved them so much that I installed a 3" Porter truck muffler on my Ford truck. These are definitely my go to mufflers. I am 60years old and my glasspack days are way behind me. Good luck with your project. Please post a picture once you get her on the road!

Thanks.

Fuel Pump Failure

Posted by Jon Shields on August 6, 2022 at 6:48am 4 Comments

Hello,

I'm located in Melbourne, Australia and my 64 sedan de ville is stuck in the garage due to failed mechanical fuel pump. The first after market mechanical fuel pump lasted a few years before it failed & left me stranded 5 hours from home. A hire car and tow got us home. On inspection, I noticed a valve not seated within the housing. I was optimistic, pressed it into place and assumed the pump was good to go. But alas, no. From what I can now determine, the diaphragm pushrod…

Renovation project 1964 Cadillac Deville convertible

Introduction

To achieve an excellent result of vehicle restoration, it is essential to  manage this task as one manages an industrial project.

To do this we will use a certain formalism of project management and therefore start by defining the need. It is from this that we will deduce the scope, then the time of execution of the…
