I wanted to let anyone who is interested know how I made a 63 convertible door lower window track fit my 2dr hardtop CDV. I apologize , I do not have a way to send pictures but I think I can explain it so everyone can understand. I was working on the right door. The new lower channel for the convertible was about an inch or so longer than my CDV channel.
When you lay the old channel assembly on top of the new channel assembly, the rear channel guide (guide nearest the door latch ) and the track that the regulator rollers run in, all line up. The difference on the convertible channel is in the front guide ( too far forward ). I took my small grinder and cut the welds on the front channel guide and removed it from the new channel. I measured the length of the old window channel & cut the new one down to size ( cutting from the end I had removed the forward guide from .)
I then drilled two approx. 1/8th inch holes in the lip of the front channel guide that I had removed from the new lower channel. The" lip" I'm referring to is the one where the guide was welded to the new channel.
I measured the exact location of the forward guide on the new channel, as compared to the old window channel, marked and drilled two approx. 1/8th inch holes in the new window channel. I used two stainless steel countersunk phillip's head machine screws with lock washers and nuts to attach the front channel guide to the window channel. ( I took a larger drill bit and counter sunk the holes inside the channel so the screw heads would not sit too high and interfere with placing the window in the channel.)
As an added measure, I put a small portion of JB Weld between the forward guide lip and the track before I tightened the two screws. Everything lined up perfectly and the window is working fine !
