I need to replace the bulbs for the speedometer cluster in my instrument panel..
Before I open up the dash, I want to have the necessary bulbs on hand.
Can someone help me determine what bulbs I need, the number of bulbs I need, and where to purchase them?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

So very glad we have Jason Russ and a few others on this site that have dedicated themselves to be knowing every possible finite detail about our two year Antique Cadillac and very willing to share there expertise with the community when asked about one of their life’s passions
The details for just these two year Cadillacs and the various models available in our years is very extensive ( and sometimes gets complicated )
The knowledge presented here often exceeds the Service Manuals info with hands on experience for our given Cadillac years
No other place in the world —-you can learn what you need to know about our two year Cadillacs for just asking than this internet sight created by Jason Edge ( web master )
Jasons knowledge and skills make this place for Cadillac info exchange the extraordinary place it is
He is a very intelligent exceptional leader —regarding many subjects beyond that of Cadillacs and we are very fortunate to have him to consult about our cars
The more you know about the man the more interesting he becomes for all the things he can do exceptionally well
So very glad his expertise is available to all of us to be answering any and all question asked on this site to be helping others keep there Cadillacs rolling down the road
Enjoy
Well I'll be... Did not know about the bulb changes for 64. Looking at the specs, #1895 & #1445 have a much longer rated life which is a plus for sure. As much fun as taking off the dash pad is, I'd like to keep it to a minimum : ) Looks like bulbs changes coming up for me next time I do have it off. It'd be great to have the brighter #1816 for the main bulbs but their rated life is half the #1895 & #1445, however; it is still twice the rated life of the #57. So many decisions...
Just to note, the bulb #'s changed from 63 to 64. the 2 cp (candlepower) 57 used in 1963 was replaced by the 2 cp 1895 used in 1964. These are the main slightly brighter bulb used behind speedometer (3 used) and temp fuel gauge, generator indicator, low oil indicator and the optional Trunk Open light (1 used). They also used a 2 cp 1895 for the clock in in 1964 instead of the 3 cp 1816 used in 1963.
The dimmer 1 cp bulb used for the hi beam indicator, radio, ash tray, etc, went form #53 bulb in 1963 to 1445 in 1964. I have plenty of good used, tested 1895 and 1445 bulbs for your 1964. They are the same candle power and use the same bayonet base 53/1445 and 57/1895 are interchangeable as far as I'm concerned... but did want to point out the bulbs and look at the #'s and start scratching your head.
You have bulbs in the front ash trays -ignition key and glove box if that helps
Enjoy
There is a bulb that will light up red —when you have the high beam headlights on that is activated by the switch on the left side of the drives floor that should be checked while under the dash
Enjoy
Hi Russell, welcome to the site. There is plenty of useful information under the Help menu, just scroll through the topics. In this case you'll find "- Dash Illustrations and Pictures" and "- Dash Pad Removal" useful. The purchase of a Shop Manual (hard copy or soft copy) is a must for working on these cars. I believe Jason may have shop manuals or you can find them online (ebay, etc). The bulbs are #57. If replacing all bulbs, 8 should do it. I have attached a bulb chart from the shop manual too.

I was working on my HVAC system this winter and during the process of taking the dash pad off these two parts fell out. Does anyone know what they are and where they go?

The temperature gauge of my 63 Eldorado does not work properly.
It goes slowly all the way up and stays there, while the true temperature is around 155-160 F (water in the radiator and/or the top of the thermostat housing).
Where should I start to solve the problem? The gauge itself, the temperature sensor, or the wiring? Or something else? The sensor is a new (aftermarket part)…
