Mine still rub a little, grease sounds like a good idea. my backs rub more than the fronts which I find strange.

I didn't trim my pockets, the bags may rub a little at some point through the inflation and deflation of the bag but hope it won't hurt the rubber. Thought about putting some grease on it just in case. I haven't done the shocks yet either. I haven't found a good blog from anyone about the best place. I need to put the rear shocks on as well but want to make sure the stock ones won't bottom out before the bags do. Need to put it on a lift, lower it and take some measurements

I had to trim the front pockets, but I made sure that I could put the springs back on in the pocket ad the pocket cap. You can see the steel bucket in the spring pocket.

I have not had a chance to mount the front shocks yet, been dragging my feet on that. Drives really good without, but at about 70, sometimes I get a little vibration.

Did you trim the pockets for your front bags? And how did you mount the front shocks?

probably going to go a head and do it. I want to yank the engine and have it rebuilt anyway. Hate to have to do that after I get everything else done. Lucky I have a ton of space. Might buy a lift first though

I did not have any help either. I built in a 10x30 storage, dropped the frame and everything and drug it out. I had the powder coat company pick it up and drop it off I had it thrown in for the amount I had done. When it came back I put it on blankets and beach towels and drug it under the car and jacked it into place.

That's what I was thinking, dump them prior to the rearend. Great looking car. I want to frame off mine so bad. Decided against it until I saw your pictures...Just never done it and have zero help.

I had a shop do it and had it dump out the side, I did not want to see the exhaust pipes so the are tucked underneath. My car is bagged also, I did not want the hassle of trying to bend tubing over the rear axle. This is a picture of what I did.

I was looking at doing the same thing. Right now the cross pipe hits the ground before the cross member when I let all the air out of the bags.

1964 power steering sector rebuild

Posted by CHRIS CARLSON on March 20, 2023 at 11:32pm 3 Comments

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response,   has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you

Need help with a hood latch

Posted by Curtis Dover on January 2, 2023 at 5:23pm 0 Comments

Hey guys, I need some help.  Could someone send me some pictures on how the first hood release lever on a factory 1964 Cadillac is set up, where it comes though the grille. Not the secondary one. I need to know where the thumb or finger position is located through the grille. Is it above or below the center grille molding piece? Mine seems to be positioned behind the center molding piece and will not adjust above or below the molding. I have a wire tied to it to release it…
