Anyone have any experience removing light scratches from our Cadillac windshields

I thought I might need to replace my windshield but when inspected by my windshield guy he seems to feel I could get away with polishing out the scratches as they are mostly light ones

i have no dings or deep scratches

I would like to keep the original glass —so this idea is appealing to me

enjoy

If your windshield guy is doing to the work give it a try. Windshield polishing is like body work sanding, when you think your finished your actually just getting started.

Tony, there are auto glass light scratch removal kits available on Amazon (search auto glass scratch removal) or at your local auto parts store that usually work with a drill, and there are the headlight lens restoration kits (Click Here for one example), but either will only take out very fine scratches and both take a lot of time and effort to be effective. Unless you just like holding a drill and going back and for a long, long time with the auto glass kits, or lots of elbow grease with the lens restoration kits, I would ask your "windshield guy" how much he would charge to buff it out as he probably already has the professional equipment to do it faster and better.

To my knowledge, engine, transmission, and drive shaft are original to the car. I am worried I am falling down the rabbit hole of vibrations. Some tests I’ve done recently:Going down flat and level…Continue

1964 power steering sector rebuild

Posted by CHRIS CARLSON on March 20, 2023 at 11:32pm 3 Comments

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response,   has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you

Need help with a hood latch

Posted by Curtis Dover on January 2, 2023 at 5:23pm 0 Comments

Hey guys, I need some help.  Could someone send me some pictures on how the first hood release lever on a factory 1964 Cadillac is set up, where it comes though the grille. Not the secondary one. I need to know where the thumb or finger position is located through the grille. Is it above or below the center grille molding piece? Mine seems to be positioned behind the center molding piece and will not adjust above or below the molding. I have a wire tied to it to release it…
