Hello Russ, thanks for friending me. I was reading thru the past forums about installing a Edelbrock carb on the ‘63 390 and a member showed a picture of a bracket he had someone make for the TV Rod and you asked him if you could get 1 or some made by the same guy. I was just wondering if you did in fact get some made for you? I’m putting the Edelbrock on our 390 at this time and that bracket would sure make things easier it you had any for sale. If so let me know if you would. Thanks, Scott

Electronic ignition is the way to go. Better control of the spark.   I would recommend the Pertronix III (3) ignition.  Get their coil also. You will need to run a 12v power supply to the coil.

The 390 motor and Hydra-Matic trans will drop and bolt right up into a 64.   Depending on what transmission was in the 64, you may need to swap a few things around. 

  If its a series 62 coupe, then the trans will hook right up. 

If the Coupe is a series 63, then the drive shaft, and shift linkage will need to be changed.  A kick down switch to the trans can/should also be added.  A few other small details will also help out.

Fastest way to tell what trans cam with the car, is to look at the shift plate on the dash.  PNDDLR  makes for a quick motor/trans install.      PRNDDL  means a little more work.  

I have the parts to do a swap, if your looking to do that.

Dusty, no video needed to remove the harmonic balancer.  Take the clamps off of the sway bar. The sway bar will lower out of the way, so the harmonic balancer will slide off.

Use a harmonic balancer puller/installer.  The 3 bolts that screw into the balancer can only go in as far as the threads.  The rubber to the balancer is behind the threads, and if you go further than the threads with the mount bolts, you will ruin the balancer.

First they told me the hangers were $30 each but only had 2 of the 3 of them. Waldrons called me back a few hours later to say they have good news and bad news. The bad news was they misquoted the price and the hangers are $40 each but the good news is the have all 3. I'll post pictures when they come in.

Hello!

Newbie to the group here - we have already found tons of invaluable information on the board, so thanks! We are restoring a 1963 Series 62 Convertible. We are wondering if anyone knows of a source to buy the propellor yoke flange (that bolts to the pinion flange) for the driveshaft? One of our ears partially broke off. Not sure if we can buy just the yoke flange as an aftermarket part, or if it has to be rebuilt by a welder/fab guy? Maybe a salvage yard for a source? Again, any…

Where can I find the V.I.N. on a 63 convertible?  The usual space at the base of the interior windshield on the driver's side has been decimated by weather.

Jason, I liked the detail and information you have provided. I would like to do mine similar to yours. Can you help? Do you have trunk material? OPGI is sending the trunk product for my 63 Fleetwood. But it does cover the entire trunk as yours was done. If you do not have can you give me a reference? Thanks!! Bob
