Does anyone know how heavy these frames weigh, and are they extremely heavy to pick up by yourself? Because after reading an old Car Life/Motor Trend magazine reviews online of a 64 and 65 Cadillac  and how a near fully loaded 64 Sedan Deville weighed in at 5050lbs curb weight, another claiming over 5100lbs test weight, and another article claiming that Cadillac shed about 300lbs in curb weight starting in 65 because the new perimeter frame design was much lighter and weighed a lot less than…See More

Why the 63-64 Cadillac?

What makes our cars so special to you? They’re a lot of other Cadillacs out there that are collectible, but only a handful of Cadillacs are truly unique, awesome and special. We can all mostly agree that the 59 Cadillac is probably the most well known iconic Cadillac of all time. But when I think of a 50’s Cadillac icon, I see the 54-56’s IMO  being the most prominent, stately and bold of them all.But the 60’s Cadillacs vary even more mainly because of the flamboyant Cadillac styling ended in…See More

Correct strut rod bushings replacement

Posted on October 29, 2015 at 8:41pm 5 Comments

A quick question. Is there a difference in the bushing design from the 63-64 vs the 65 on up Cadillacs?

I am in need of some bushings and I've looked on RockAuto, and OPG, but I am confused because on the OPG website it list the bushings being the same for a 61 all the way up to a 76 Cadillac.

Caddy Daddy is insanely expensive and overpriced, so I am looking for alternatives.

Can I use the MOOG bushings part # K5184 for the 64?

Thanks.

I think my 64 has a 65 engine and trans combo in it? Help!

Posted on August 13, 2015 at 8:33am 32 Comments

Hello everybody, well this has been an interesting journy. I am still trying to figure out why I am getting a vibration at the flywheel area, I suspected something was replaced so this lead me to look at the transmission ID # on the side of the trans, including the engine itself. I can't believe it took me this long to figure it out, but the ID # on the trans is AA-65, and the 429 engine has to be out of a 65 as the water pump lower hose outlet connector goes to the passenger side of the…

Anyone have a spare flywheel cover for a 64 with a TH?

Exactly what the title says. Mine is missing, and I really don't like the flywheel being exposed as rocks and debris can damage it.

Thanks!!

Oil pan has been cut and welded back together, Why?

Posted on July 24, 2015 at 12:30pm 0 Comments

For some reason I just barely noticed this last night while under the car. It looks like someone removed the oil pan once before, and decided to cut it. I see the weld marking going all around the pan.

Why would anybody do this?

Lower Front End Ball Joints

Posted by Logan Robb on May 11, 2023 at 9:04am 7 Comments

Good Morning all!

I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…

1964 power steering sector rebuild

Posted by CHRIS CARLSON on March 20, 2023 at 11:32pm 3 Comments

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response,   has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you
