OK. So I will be taking another large batch of bolts, etc for Cadmium Plating in the near future and want to take a novelty or display item like I did the valve cover you see below. It was a bit rough, and I had ground the wire tabs off and was going to just paint and outline the script and throw up on the garage, but thought it would be neat to see it Cadmium plated. I thought it turned out pretty good, at least in the garage and not in an art museum! LOL. So now, I want to do something different. I know since they dip in Muriatic acid it needs to be steel andn not aluminum. I'm almost thinking of dong a hubcap just for the kicks and grins and maybe outlining it... just don't know. Keep in mind I'm paying by the pound and want something relatively light weight for the rack plating? Any thought?

ps. Yes I have had some cool Elvis plates in the past.. in fact I have had THE Elvis plate - ELVIS for about 15 years  it of course goes on the Elvis-Scalade! LOL!

Im thinking something in interior. Horn surround? Turn signal lever? Shift lever? Ignition key bezel?

63 levers or 64 HM levers would be good..  no rubber caps on the end. I kinda like the horn shroud (surround).  I did add a couple of the 64 glove box door Cadillac badges in the bins.  I guess I want something big enough to display on the wall or shelf like the valve cover. The horn shroud has potential.

Now Jason, you're starting to become the King Midas of Cadmium : )

This has been a venture 24 years (and 53 parts cars) in the making! LOL

Thought i would pop back on this thread. I dropped off another huge batch of Cadillac Metal to get the King Midas Cadmium treatment on Feb 6 and thought I would share the last thing I grabbed for the metal stash before we rolled out on Feb 6 toward Winston-Salem to drop off the goods -  I basically grabbed the mail box off the front of our old house and thru it into one of the bins!  We have one of those brass plated mail boxes on the front porch and guess it is about as old as we have been in the house.. about 25 or so years and was showing some wear. Anyway, it will get the brass treatment. For kicks and grins I thru in a couple of those 64 glove box door "Cadillac" bages, and I think I put a hub cap crest or two in there, not to sell but just to display somewhere or some how. I almost grabbed a hubcap I had converted into a light way back by drilling a hole through the center but decided that woudl wait. I was surprised at the weight I had collected for the 2nd batch.. it felt like more than the 1st batch which was 396 lb!  Anyway, I hope to get the gold bling back in a few weeks and start sorting through that batch!

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
