Jason's September 26, 2022 Ramble - Gone Like a '64 Cadillac

Well, parts car #58 is history. Rear end came out late yesterday (1st Picture below), it was delivered to the metal yard this morning (2nd picture) and for the first time since I bought my 2013 Escalade EXT last summer to supplement my 2002 Escalade EXT (now in semi-retirement and smug as a bug winning 1st Place Primary at the Chicago Grand National this year), have I been able to take my car hauler and use it for regular hauling! With a narrow drive way and 2 cars on hand I have had to keep one up on the car hauler the entire time.  When I got home from the metal yard I threw 4 sheets of 3/4" plywood I needed to take back to Home Depot up on car hauler, shot down to the store, and picked up a new 10' step ladder (see 3rd picture). While the EXT's have the mid-gate that extend into the cab to allow 8' lumber it is a lot easier to just throw stuff up on the car hauler.

But more than anything, having two parts cars has kept my middle bay where I keep my 64 Coupe deVille Dino parked for most of the last year. The day is coming very soon  I will be rambling Dino Rides Again.. and loading it with more Cadmium Bling. It has been cool having two 1963 Park Avenue parts cars here at the same time but I just don't have the space ...and you gotta get the driver out and enjoy it.

With that, here are the final picks of Parts Car #58 and my car hauler again ready for simple hauling... even if it is just to return some plywood or bring home a new ladder!

Rear End Removed... Lower it down, strap it down and off the the metal yard.

This is always the last view I have of the parts cars.
Total weight 1920 lb, so at $4,250 a lb I pocked a whopping $81.60. Yep car metal prices have gone back down in my area.

It sure feels good to have my old car hauler freed up to use again!
For now I am going to just leave it connected to the black 2002 EXT, with the blue 2013 EXT for daily driving and heavy duty long distance towing.

That shot of it getting carried away on the crane is wild. RIP but glad to see all the parts living on.

Yep, always bittersweet.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
