Another Ning.com Hosted Website for the Carolina CLC Region in the Works

The CLC Carolina Region needed a Webmaster and Website and I stepped up to provide both the 1st of this year and have been steadily working on a new website. It is still a work in progress and have lots to add but just made it live yesterday. The new Carolina Region site is using a Ning 3.0 Platform, while we are still using the 2.0 platform. There are some similarities but some differences. I will eventually need to migrate us to the 3.0 platform so this is good hands on experience!

You can check it out at www.crclc.org. I have yet to invite any members other than our Director Travis Dowell, but will turn it loose to the other members around April 1. Anyway, thought I would share one of my other sort of related endeavors. Once I get it set up on place like I want it I will come back here and take a hard look at some things I would like to add.

Looks like another great club but per usual it seems to be missing younger people.  At 48 I often seem to be one of the younger guns in the crowd these days.  Wonder what things will be like in 10 years?

Still youngest?

My 14 year old daughter love cars shows. In summer time she is trying to see at least 2-3 shows and she takes pictures of all cars and bikes. Last summer she went to one car show with her grand mother. So no Micheal, in 10 years time you will find that you are old compared to a lot of participants.

Unfortunately this hobby is expensive. Therefore younger people can't afford it. But rest assure, when they can they will come. Just like you and me.

Good to know there are still some kids that want to keep the dream alive, thanks Anders!

The hobby has always been expensive which is why I started with Corvairs 31 years ago and worked my way up to the Cadillac.  Still own and drive the Corvair though. :-)

Have been working on this car for 8 years, and finally tossed the keys to my son on March 22, 2018.

A 77 trans Am Y 84 SE. Very rare bird. Yes it is his.  Some parental involvement never hurt.

Every time I see one of these (which is rarely these days) I imaging Burt Reynolds or Sally Field for some reason.

Awesome restoration!

Nice TA Russ..... tell him to go easy. Young blokes will be young blokes.

Hey Russ, as a guy who earns his keep mowing other folks lawns/gardens etc, your street has a definite lack of the green stuff. I'm assuming, it's just too hot so rock gardens are the go?

Kevin, You might have to find another line of work if you did lawn care in that neighborhood. When you come to NC you will see plenty of grass!  Speaking of which, I am constantly trying to get decent grass in my yard.. you will have to give me some advice when you visit!

Kevin, when living in the desert, the landscape is rock and brush.

Geez, it must be hell on ya blades..... :-)PMSL..... :-)

I'll let you know what things are like at 58 in about 7 weeks.

One thing I added on the CR site that I have already started to incorporate here is a Member Cadillacs pages that will replace the single Spotlight Page we had before. As we feature Chapter Member Cadillacs in the Newsletter they will get their own Page under the  Member Cadillacs drop down in the header.

I love this idea! This way we can keep up with the progress people are making or have made on their cars.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
