I've been super busy getting ready for a family get together next week and weekend, in honor of my mom that passed away back in January but have managed a couple of Cadillac Adventures and thought I would share. Once I get past next weekend my time should start freeing up for newsletters, the website and more Cadillac stuff!

I took a road trip down to Savannah, Georgia Sept 25-27 to pick up parts car 56, a partially stripped 1963 Series 62 Convertible, and have to say the 2013 Escalade EXT I picked up in Houston this summer and named Et2Brute pulls like a Boss. The 403 hp L92 6.2 Liter engine coupled with 6000 lb curb weight will literally get er done. While it is about the same weight as my 2002 Escalade EXT 'Brutus", the it's 345 hp LQ9 is no match for the big 6.2 Liter used on the 2007 to 2013 EXT's.  We had a great 2 days in Savannah, and did some site seeing down on the river walk and in the city and of course want to go back. The ride to Savanna was almost all on I-95 and had the cruise on about 75 the entire way and you would hit a rather steep incline and that 6 speed might go down one gear, but no struggle whatsoever. When Brutus as almost new it had little problem pulling this weight (about 7500 lb lbs between car hauler and parts car) but struggles a bit in its older age ... although some basic maintenance has improved perforrmance a bit. Regardless I will use Et2 for the heavy & long pulling from here on out.  Brutus is semi-retired relegated to picking up lumber and plywood at Home Depot and Lowes! LOL At bottom is a picture of Et2Brute as we were about to lave for home.

I also sold Kanter a halve dozen of my best rocker arm assemblies and bought 2 new rebuilt ones for my 64 Coupe de Ville Dino. As you remember the valve lifter noise was addressed when "shorty" and all his normal size lifter siblings were replaced last month. I guess I was itching to get it as good as I can and saw some wear on the rocker arms and decided to get new rebuilt rocker arms. Not many places have turn key assemblie ready to ship out, but Kanter does and have had good luck with their parts over the years and opted for 2 new ones. They ended up taking two of my rocker assemblies for cores and buy 6 more outright to rebuild... so some of you may end up with some of my rocker arm assemblies by way of kanter.

Both rocker arm assemblies have been installed and as good as Dino was running before it is running even better now. I've been able to do a bit of cruising but that will increase a log in a couple of weeks!
So, enough from me for now. Check out pictures below:

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
