if you were here year or so ago, you would remember i chased a rear main seal leak/oil pan leak for a while. Changed rear main 4 times.. then mechanic said the rear of the oil pan had been braised(? ) so i got a new oil pan changed and it still leaked a little. i said to heck with it, its just a little,, so i figured i would live with it.
some saw the rear main bearing and said they were pretty worn, could see some of the copperish color. Mechanic said if i chose to just drive and not worry, then just keep eye on the oil level. it was negilgible,
now till recently
oil leak was a bit more, so i kinda of started keepin a closer eye on the amount,, seems bout a 1/2 quart over 600 miles, so today, i pulled the inspection plate, got some of that floursecent dye, and very quickly, it began to leak, it was coming down both sides of the inspection plate. the flat side where the fly wheel is and the flat side just behind the oil pan. Im sure you know what i am saying, i hope!!
im not sure what question to ask at this point. is half a quart a lot over 600 miles?? does it matter where the leak comes from? front of plate? back of plate? would it be lekaing from rear oil pan gasket and the main seal? is a more serious repair in store?? i dread pulling the pan again, to check a pan leak, and having done the rear main, 3 times myself and once with the mechanic,, well, hard to think that its at least that,
just kinda of concerned with the leak,, i will note however, as i posted the other day,, my oil pressures have risen to about 28 at 50 plus speeds, where this summer, with 20/50 they were 23 24 at same speeds. dont know if that is a factor to more oil being pushed out,, im just at al lose with what to do.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
