Power Steering

I have seen several examples of 63 and 64 restored motors and engine compartments; including Jason Edge' beautiful pics of his motor, on our website here. I am an advocate of saving the life of these old Cadillacs. To me this means returning the car to its original glory. That said, using the correct colors in the correct places is important to me.

I have seen examples of power steering pumps in black and Cadillac blue, I have seen examples of vented and non vented pulleys in black and… Continue

Water temp sending unit

The motor in my 64 DeVille was rebuilt prior to me owning the car. Some jack wagon cut the end off of the green temperature sending wire, and never installed the temp sending unit back in the head...they just plugged it. I am hoping some one might have a pic of the correct wire routing and the connection end on the the temp sending wire.

Freeze Plugs

My 64 DeVille has a set of steel freeze plugs.  The car was left in storage with only water (no Antifreeze) in the engine.  The freeze plugs have rusted and are starting to leak.  I am trying to find a source for a set of the good brass Freeze plugs to replace them.  The vendors here on our website only seem to carry the steel replacements.

I am sure I can get the brass freeze plugs if some one could give me the correct size of each of them.

I am open to suggestions.

Correct Colors

When i am ready to repaint our car I want to stay In the spirit of "Period Correct". what would be the best solution to matching the color as Cadillac would have produced it? Firemist Red,  A-1624F

No oil to the rockers!

Bought this convertible a month ago. the owner, a "mechanic", said he rebuilt the carb and did a fresh valve job on the car. But he claimed he could never make it idle after the rebuild and never drove it. Good for me. I knew instantly he forgot the stainless sreel shim. I Installed the shim, adjusted the carb, idles like new, but i have not driven it. Today i pulled the valve covers to sand and paint them and noticed the rockers on the driver side were dry! I pulled the rocker assembly to… Continue

My great grandfather used to tow his Airstream trailer with his CDV. In honer of him my wife and I are considering towing a vintage trailer with our Deville Convertible. I figure we will need to upgrade to at least the HD springs and commercial sway bars. The comercial springs have a significantly higher spring rate than the HD springs. But do they fit and what would this do to the ride when driving without the trailer. I was unable to find info regarding the subject of towing.

So my 63 guide matic headlamps stay on low beam all the time. I have so far bypassed the system and everything works normal. I have been thru the trouble shooting in the manual but this is where the confusion begins.on my car when the power relay is powered I have low beam and when its not powered I have highbeam, this appears to be opposite what the diagnosis says should be correct. The wiring is all original and no wires have been mixed up.has anyone ever unplugged the 2 wire connector…

Having tried both the II and III I can say the multispark feature of the III offers a smoother idle . It is also easier to install .Does not require removal of the distributor

Stuck at two red (dash) lights!

I hope someone can help solve these two electrical problems that appeared one after the other.

By way of background: The car, a '64 Eldorado has very limited use. It was at a restoration shop for 15 months until last January-  that supposedly did a bunch of wiring repairs including rebuilding the gas gauge that still hasn't worked properly, and the clock that hasn't worked, and re-soldering the broken wires in the drive door. All window and seat controls appear to be…
