Driver's power window won't lift--buy a new motor?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Preston Bealle Jun 27. 5 Replies

The window's been fine as long as I've owned the car so I don't think it has an issue with the track. When you push the button to lift it, the lights dim, indicating to me that the wiring is OK…Continue

"Yes, you make some good points here. The stock drums should be adequate to stop the car. However, two things. In my case, the brakes locked up twice at a stop sign and screeched. I could either redo the brakes as is for a few hundred dollars, or for…"

Free front brake drums and shoes for '64 DeVille

I converted my '64 to front disc brakes. I have the drums and shoes and parts that the car came with. Anyone can have them if you want them, just pay shipping, which won't be cheap since they are heavy. Hate to throw them out. They are in Connecticut. Can provide more detailed photos if you really want them. Brakes operated perfectly before I converted. I did that because I saw "Jay Leno's Garage" where he had converted an Imperial and some other cars to disc and was happy with the change. …See More

Doing disc brake conversion and I need to change out the rims--what to get?

Posted on December 7, 2017 at 3:55pm 22 Comments

I'm having a mechanic change to '64 Deville convertible to disc brakes. He used the spacers that came with the kit but one side takes 2 spacers and the other 3, and there is a slight disconnect from the center hub from being so far out. It appears the best solution would not be further tinkering with spacers but a deeper 15" rim made for disc brakes. Does anyone know what rims might work that will allow the existing Cadillac hub caps to fit?

I have read everything I can find on disc…

So my 63 guide matic headlamps stay on low beam all the time. I have so far bypassed the system and everything works normal. I have been thru the trouble shooting in the manual but this is where the confusion begins.on my car when the power relay is powered I have low beam and when its not powered I have highbeam, this appears to be opposite what the diagnosis says should be correct. The wiring is all original and no wires have been mixed up.has anyone ever unplugged the 2 wire connector…

Stuck at two red (dash) lights!

I hope someone can help solve these two electrical problems that appeared one after the other.

By way of background: The car, a '64 Eldorado has very limited use. It was at a restoration shop for 15 months until last January-  that supposedly did a bunch of wiring repairs including rebuilding the gas gauge that still hasn't worked properly, and the clock that hasn't worked, and re-soldering the broken wires in the drive door. All window and seat controls appear to be…
