How Cadillac advertised its “Standard of the World” wares in the 1960s

These ads bring me back to my childhood. When visiting my grandparents, I remember looking through their back issues of National Geographic and seeing these fantastic Cadillac ads and then sitting in Granddaddy's 63 Coupe DeVille dreaming of owning something so fine one day. That dream came true when he gave me the car when I was 20 years old. I still get a special feeling every time I drive the car. These are great ads indeed.…See More

I added an LED to light up the headlight switch bezel. Looks much better. Finally got a phone that takes excellent low light photos to show it.

Hi Kurt, to tell the truth it's not Elmshorn, it's Neuendorf where I come from. This is exact half the way between Elmshorn and Glückstadt. But there are houndreds of Neuendorf in Germany so I decided to say Elmshorn as there is only one in Germany. If you are ever here again you're welcome.

Food Cruise

Posted on January 28, 2015 at 1:39am 2 Comments

A group of my car buddies & I go on a monthly food cruise, sometimes breakfast, lunch or dinner. Last Saturday we took a 40 mile cruise down country roads from Austin TX to Salado TX. We went to a shop there called City Garage that specializes in Lincolns & had lunch afterwards at a good burger joint in Salado. We've been lucky this winter with beautiful weather for the most part with just a few cold rainy days in between. Here's a little video I put together from the cruise. It's a…

Pics from Cadillac show yesterday

Posted on May 12, 2013 at 11:51am 0 Comments

Our local CLC chapter had their annual show at Covert Cadillac in Austin TX yesterday.

There is an interesting story on the 61 limo. A man wanted to purchase a car for some nuns. They reluctantly agreed but insisted that it be bare bones with no radio or air conditioning. When the 61 series 75 showed up of course even without a radio or a/c it was way too ostentatious. The nuns tried to return it to the dealer but they said they could not sell it because it didn't have a/c. So most…

Hardtails Bar & Grill

I went to the annual Lincoln show in Salado TX on Saturday. Yes, I have friends on the dark side. LOL. I brought my 63 CDV of course. There was also a pristine 67 Eldo, & a 89 Allante in the spectator lot so Cadillac was well represented. On the way home we stopped at Hardtails Bar & Grill in Georgetown TX http://www.hardtailsbarandgrill.com/index.html and there crashing through the wall is a full sized front end from a 64…

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
