There was some discussion about fuel filters and thought I would post these pictures showing an original type filter, and an aftermarket paper element AC and on AC filter. Note the one on the left.
The original AC filter on the left was a GF-97 but seems to have been replaced by the # GF-149 at some point. The non-AC original filter was a GF-200. I don't think I have one of those or a picture.
The 2 filters on the right is the sealed AC type (WIX 33039) and the open top non-AC type (WIX 33034). In particular note the carboard base. When installed the gasket goes over this base and the glass goes on top of gasket holding everything in place........but......the bottom carboard will disentegrate and filter will float to bottom becoming useless. You can keep filter pressed up with a spring, but the base still disintegrates and it is probably a good idea to periodically replace.
Go back to the original type filter and look at how sturdy the base is with the steel ring. As they say, the just don't make things like they use to.

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
