Power Seat Transmission

Posted on July 6, 2013 at 8:07pm 10 Comments

I have figured out why the power seat in my '63 convertible moves so slowly.  The motor works fine by itself, but the gears in the power seat transmission are really sticky.  When you turn the input shaft by hand it is hard to make it turn, they are so sticky.  What do you clean the old stuff off with?  The gears are nylon.  I don't want to melt them with a solvent.  After getting the sticky off, what type of lubricant…

New foam for the seat cushion

Posted on July 6, 2013 at 8:00pm 1 Comment

"I need to replace the foam in the front seat cushion of my '63 convertible.  Do pre-fabricated foam sets exist for this car?  All I find are ones for the muscle cars and sports cars.  Any recommendations for the type and thickness of foam to get, if I can't find pre-fabs?"

My other Cadillac is an Eldorado

Posted on December 15, 2012 at 1:47am 1 Comment

After purchasing my '63 convertible and driving it occasionally for a year I decided that I would replace my leased 2001 DTS with a 1970 Eldorado, which has now been my daily driver for 9 years.  I repainted it to look just like the Eldorado in the 1970 Cadillac brochure.  It is Cinnamon with a dark brown vinyl roof.  I think it is prettier than my '63.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
