1963 Eldorado - Drive Shaft Stud Centering Kit/Parts - Remanufactured parts

Good Evening fellow club members.  I was hoping one of more of you could help me find a solution to my driveshaft problem.

My 1963 Eldorado has developed a thumping noise coming from the driveshaft.  My mechanic took it to a drive shaft specialist in NJ who indicated the Constant Velocity "CV" Joint on the rear of the shaft needs to be rebuilt but they cannot find the parts for the rebuild.  I spoke to Jason and some of the other members on the most recent chapter call.  Jason pointed me to the discussion on the forum which was extremely helpful.  The forum contained a great discussion and also a link to Fort Wayne Clutch and Driveline that takes you to the driveshaft parts required for the rebuild (Its a Driveshaft Ball Stud Centering Kit - Sku 211011X). but its out of stock.   I called Fort Wayne directly and they were also helpful.  They indicated they have been out of stock on that rebuild kit for many years and noted the parts are extremely difficult to find in particular the the Driveshaft Ball,

This leaves me with 2 options.

1. Find a shop that can remanufacture the parts (in particular the Driveshaft Ball).and rebuild the driveshaft

or

2. Find a good used driveshaft.

I have started to pursue finding a good used drive shaft but that requires a lot of time and energy and so far I have not been successful finding a good used driveshaft.

At the same time,  I would like to explore having the parts remanufactured.   Accordingly, I was hoping that one of you fine club members could point me in the right direction as it relates to finding a reputable quality driveline shop.  I am sure many club owners may have had this same issue and I would very much appreciate if anybody could help me out by connecting me with a driveline shop that has experience making and rebuilding these drive shafts.

Thanks in Advance

Marshall

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
