Upper A Arm Rubber Bumpers

I have found a very good replacement part for the Upper A Arm Bumpers.  The top part is identical to the originals the bottom can be used as is or after a few minutes with a belt sander can be ground to the V shape as the originals were.  The replacement bumpers are for a 2001 to 2005 S10 Sanoma or Blazer.  Part number is on the box in the photos.  First photo is the box next to the box is the S10 part and an original.  Next photo shows my sanded down part next to an original.…

Front top ball joint replacement

Starting to tear down my front end to replace all suspension parts.  First problem encountered is removing the top ball joints,  "spherical joints".  Page 4-1 of shop manual says "The upper suspension arms and spherical joints are interchangeable, left and right, previous to being welded into an assembly.  Figure 4-35 0n page 4-23 shows picture of the upper arm without the ball joint.

QUESTION: do you have to grind off the welds to replace the upper ball joints?  or how do you replace…

Side View Mirrors

Has anyone tried to separate a side view mirror to be restored?  I acquired a right hand mirror and am attempting to dismantle it for re-plating.  Figuring that the mirror was bolted to the post and would just unscrew, NOT!.  I took an extra driver side mirror I had that was in bad shape, ground off the rivet holding the plate that  serves as a spring that keeps the mirror tight.  I found only a round head holding the mirror to the post.  So far any attempt to remove the holder (I am…

Seat Belts

Talking about seat belts, there is a pair of dark blue1963 dated Hamill seat belts listed on ebay buy it now for $110.00.  These are marked RCF-50-R12-63.  These have the 64 crest but 63 date. Don't know how the date code works but look to be in fair shape with some rust on the metal.

Carbuerator Restoration

I just received my Carter carb back from Scott Smith, Harm's Automotive.  He is located in the part supplers on this site.  This thing is beautiful it is NOT rebuilt it is RESTORED.  I could not be happier it looks brand new the only thing that does not look new is the vacuum module.  I wish I had taken photos of this carb before it was sent to him.  It looked like a piece of junk as it came off…

Chrome Plating

There has been a lot of questions about chrome plating lately so thought I would add to it.  In September 2013 I had both front and rear bumpers plus some other parts plated at Superior Chrome Plating in Houston, Texas.  They did a beautiful job and would recommend them.  This was all for a 63 Series 63 Convertible.

Rear Bumper center $400.00

Rear tail light housing R/H $150.00

Rear Tail Light housing L/H $150.00

Front Lower Bumper center $350.00

Stuck at two red (dash) lights!

Posted by Jeff Kinzler on November 3, 2019 at 10:00pm 9 Comments

I hope someone can help solve these two electrical problems that appeared one after the other.

By way of background: The car, a '64 Eldorado has very limited use. It was at a restoration shop for 15 months until last January-  that supposedly did a bunch of wiring repairs including rebuilding the gas gauge that still hasn't worked properly, and the clock that hasn't worked, and re-soldering the broken wires in the drive door. All window and seat controls appear to be…

Dash removal

Posted by Jake Mickley on October 9, 2019 at 12:06am 9 Comments

Hello everyone,

On a 63 CDV, if a guy wanted to remove the entire dash to get all the metal painted, and do some other things behind there, how would he go about doing that?  I checked here and the shop manual, but can't find a complete guide.

As always, and help or direction is appreciated.  Thanks!

Introducing myself

Thanks for letting me join the club.  Picked up this ‘64 Coupe Deville a few months ago out of Beverly MA, the car has few stickers on it from various Cadillac clubs, didn’t know if anyone might recognize it from it’s “Glory days.” Everything seems pretty healthy except for the body and some very Mickey Mouse repairs, was wondering if anyone had any leads on…
